Saturday March 22nd-Pipe Finals

Not many people wake up before 10 am on a Saturday let alone the Saturday during the U.S. Open but lucky for me my air matress lost most of its air and in this room blinds are...well there are none. So today looks to be the best day of Open 08 so far being that I can't see a cloud in the sky and at least here there no wind for the moment. To take a second though and ask everyone to think positive thoughts for our buddy Tyler Emond. Ty came up short on a jump yesterday on the super super awesome slopestyle course and his ankle took a beating. 2 broken bones and a dislocation calls for a quick ride to Bennington followed by surgery and insertion of some plates and screws.

US Open-Day 2 and 3

It's March and that means a few things. Basketball, making maple syrup, unpredictable weather and of course the U.S. Open.Though its changed a-lot through the years and become somewhat of a circus of late the Open always draws a large crowd and competitors hoping to make it onto the most elite podium in snowboarding. For someone from Vermont its hard to see it become the kook show that it is today as we hold our snowboarding traditions close but every year the green mountain faithful show up to watch locals and foreigners go for glory. The past few years the weather has put those who have to pre-qualify through hell and this year has been no different.

Utah-first entry

Day number.....3...no 4...no 3. Well its been a few days of good old Utah and so far the weather has been much like home. It did decide to dump at Brighton last night and then freakishly clear for 10 minutes as if we were in the eye of the storm. Some front flips, double grab spins, and swizzles went into the books as did some mini pow slashes. Of course Utah's finest was out in the snow doing their best GQ model impersonations and gettin inspiration for the "art" to be created after riding. Due to the damage the Jackalope did last night Brighton seems to be outta the question so to the streets we go.
