Haines Alaska Heli Day 9

Posted on April 20 2009 at 07:01pm by beavercreek

After yesterday's amazing day of riding I could barely sleep. It was one of thoose nights you replay every run and every turn of the day back in your head, everything was so vivid... So when the alarm went off early this morning I was tired but knew we had one more crack at the nice bluebird weather hole. Bluebird means when the skies are blue and the birds - ie.. Helicopters are flying.. or atlest thats how I have always known it.

Haines Alaska Heli Day 8

Everyone in Haines is smiling tonight!!! Bluebird skies and blower powder, can you ask for anymore? The stoke level is very high right now, lots of free skiers, film crews and guides are out taking advantage of the great conditons. If you have the means to get up to Haines, drop what your doing and call Sean Dog and Alaska Heliskiing at 907-767-5601

Today we switched off shooting photos, wayne took this one of me. I'm so stoked I think this really sums up Heli Skiing in Haines.

Haines Alaska Heli Day 7

After a few days of sitting around and "window shopping" for blue skies we decided to head down to the Heli Pad at 33 mile. We had done numerous weather checks thruout the day by driving down to the Heli pad and staring at the skies. With a nice "sucker hole" of blue skies, spirits were high..

Haines Alaska Heli Day 6

I came to Alaska to do 2 things this trip Heli ski and fish. We were lucky enough to be invited out on the Sundowner fishing boat by Captain Bruce Bauer. When we arrived at the dock the Teton Gravity Research (TGR) team was also gearing up to come for a ride. We came walking down the dock with shotgun shells, clay pigeons and lots of beer. The TGR guys gave us crazy looks at first then ran up to the liquor store and came down with cases of beers as well.. I knew this would be the start of a fun trip. With that we set out for tonight's dinner..

Haines Alaska Heli Day 5

The morning started out with gray skies; however with the magic of 33 mile the weather soon parted. We were setup with a new guide today Ted, or Tedshred. He was up in Haines guiding last year and we were stoked to have him taking us out. Trav and I went back to the house and when we came back the boys had decided they wanted to fly.. To old Faitful. I'll be honest I wasn't to stoked but hey they want to get there Heli days in so I cant blame them. Old Faithful is where the test there clients, to go from Indy 5000 to Old Faithful was sort of sucked but Ted was able to get us into a few fun lines. Next run Little Soho

Jesse Reis, Haines AK on Little Soho fully committed.
