Sierra Snowboard encourages snowboarders to go riding together with new Meet Up to Ride calendar online

Sacramento, Calif. – As part of its ongoing quest to foster community and connections between snowboarders, both online and in the real world, Sierra Snowboard is proud to announce the release of its Meet Up to Ride calendar online at SierraSnowboard.com.

Designed to make it easy for riders (and skiers) to get together at local ski resorts across the country, Sierra’s Meet Up to Ride calendar allows SierraSnowboard.com community members to specify when and where they plan to go riding, details such as where to meet and alternate ways to get to the resort such as carpool options, and also allows people to invite their friends to join the fun and see when they respond.

“From the very beginning, Sierra Snowboard built its website, and its business, around fostering a sense of community amongst the riders and skiers who shop with us,” said Jenn Mahoney, Sierra Snowboard Social Media Director. “So making it easy for our community members to meet each other in person and go riding together just made sense… It was also something our online community was asking us for, so we’re excited to launch this new calendar functionality on SierraSnowboard.com and see how they use it.”

In addition to making it easy for riders to find new people to go snowboarding or skiing with, Sierra’s Meet Up to Ride calendar could also be used by ski resort marketing personnel looking to offer special deals to Sierra Snowboard’s vast online community of snowboarders and skiers.

“We don’t know exactly how it will be used,” Mahoney said, “but we imagine that resorts might start offering deals through the Meet Up to Ride calendar to try to get some of our 200,000 plus community members up to their resort. Or individuals could use the calendar to put together a big enough group of riders to qualify for group lift ticket discounts.”

Sierra Snowboard community members and the general public can access the Meet Up to Ride calendar online at SierraSnowboard.com/profile_events.asp. From there, ride dates can be filtered by region, and users can see which community members are currently scheduled to attend and choose to add their name to the list of attendees.
