Build it and they will come" - the slope of dreams for Glaswegian snowsport enthusiasts is now open and ready for sliding. How do we know? Well, do you think Dannii Monogue would turn up for just any old publicity occasion? ... ... ...Hold on, don't answer that ... ....Instead, just take our word for it that Xscape Braehead and the new Glasgow Snozone are not only open, but are offering high quality refrigerated riding to Scots (and anybody else in the area).
Indoor snow slope needed up North
A few years back, building an indoor snowslope in Glasgow would have seemed a little like 'carrying coals to Newcastle'. Sadly no more (on either front really), the ski season back up North is ju st not as reliable as it used to be. So, while you can get the epic powder conditions that Scottish Native, Douglas Bryce, has been enjoying in Glencoe recently and there's nothing to beat that, it will make a massive difference to the ski and snowboard scene in Scotland to have a year-round snow facility.
Slope looks great both for riding and competition
The Snozone at Xscape Braehead is already fully functional. Natives favourite indoor park shaper, Damian Doyle (Fat Face Night Ski 2005 finalist & Castleford slope manager), sculpted the course for the opening last week and showed the potential of the slope. His twin kickers looked awesome on the 150m slope and the long rail provided the riding display team with ample opportunity to showcase their talents (and with Ben Kilner amongst those putting on the show the talent was definitely there).
Hmmm
just a shame it cost 21 bucks for 2 hours riding.
