Sledding, Stoked Spicoli and Swollen Members

Swollen Member Blog1

After a great weekend of gettin' our blog on from the Wyffels Rail Jam and SHOP WARS, it was time to get away from the crowds. Luckily, Breck loc and SNOWBOARD contributor Aaron Dodds offered to take Gary and I into the backcountry for a little sled action to see if we couldn’t find some leftover powder. I was particularly excited already that day because not only were Canadian hip-hop legends Swollen Members playing at Sherpa’s that night, but SNOWBOARD model stoked spicoli (Andrea) was in town after she flew out from P-Town to hang out with Justin Beames (top photo) and company. So, we rounded up the posse, gassed up and headed out to Montezuma.

Dodds gettin' his one turn in the chute. That's my line to the left; ollied right 'tween the rocks.

Stoked Spicoli = my secret weapon.

Swollen Member Blog19

S&M rocks the spot, without a doubt.

We sledded into a nice little zone with tons of lines to choose from. The snow was a little sketchy in spots, but I thought I told dem mutha f-ckas—I ain't never scurred.

Swollen Member Blog15

Ricky ain't scurred neither. Droppin' big cornice lines into some turns.

Dodds and Beames keepin' it gangsta. Beames claims he stays slizza on dat patron seven days a week, but when it came down to it, he couldn't keep up with me. I got that iron liver right now. This was day #77.

I banged out that chute above the high mark lines for my 2nd run. Had to ollie some rocks to get in there, Andrew Hardingham style.

Swollen Member Blog6

This chute was my first run. Just pointed it right into that chunder.

After that we mellowed it out and did some fun cruisers. You can barely see me here; look for the orange coat I was wearing (which was Jeff's, and I ruined it with snowmobile grease. Sorry Jeff).

I think this is Gary coming down.

Shadow Pow

I tried to search out some softer snow in the shadows and found a little rock ollie. It was swick.

We stayed out there for a long time, chillin', drinking PBR and marinating in the warm sun. Man, it was like heaven. Having sleds, just being able to look at stuff and say, "I'm going there," is the best way to snowboard. Next year I'm steppin' it up for sure. Sled and a truck...all a nigga needs. After riding we hit up South Ridge Seafood (for the third day in a row) for happy hour. They got the bomb apres: 75 cent oysters, $2 trout dip, beer specials and a dollar off cocktails. I had a couple Lounge Lovers, a secret mix that I picked up from the 4 seasons in Whistler. We even saw Franzen and Frank Wells, who filled us in on his SnowPark NZ plans this summer. They're doin' it real big over there. Gary and I went back to the crib, put that Shop Wars post up, and had time for a quick nap. Then it was on to Sherpa and Yeti's to check out the Swollen Members North American Tour. Sponsored by RDS and DC shoes, Madchild and Prevail are rollin' hard in a super pimped out diesel pusher. Check out www.swollenmembers.com to read their tour diary.

As always, we got it real crunk in da club. H2, Drago, Gary and Jeff—that's my crew. Gary even had a freshy Elm Co black denim SNOWBOARD hat for Jeff to rock.

Prev doin' his thing.

Swollen Member Blog20

I bought this shirt as soon as I walked in. It's too perfect for me right now.

Swollen Member Blog18

MadChild's got madstyle.

After the show, Hot Diggity Dog is the spot. Homegirl posts up outside the bar so all the drunk bastards can stuff their face with sausage at 2am. Genius.

Swollen Member Blog9

This cheese dog saved me. Thanks to Hot Diggity, I was able to go back to Nic and H2's house, finish off the Patron and handle it. Damn it was a good day. Thanks to Dodds, Ricky, Drago, Jeff, The Andreas (H1 and H2), Beames, George at Erics, South Ridge and everyone else that bought me shots all weekend. Love you guys. Now it's back to PDX for a hot minute, then up to Whistler for the 10 day party Telus Festival. Oh man, a couple more weeks of this then I gots to sober up and get back to work before my liver rots away. Peace Out.
