ive never ridden them but by their looks, i dont see what the big deal is. they look like a binding you would get from some cheapo sporting goods store.
Is that what matters? looks? can you tell how they perform by looks? would you like a ugly durable binding or a flashy cheap one?
I have been on the Force bindings all season and they are holding up well. The straps are comfy enough but the way they adjust at the ratchet for length is a bit weird, its kind of stripping out, and the ladders seem to break easy when its cold, i have gone through a few, but the shop dudes gave me a bunch.
simple, comfy, durable where it matters
oh and they aren't owned by a fucking car parts company.
I think they look pimp, but I'd still be riding my Force and Datas and even if they looked lame. Both put my Ride Tomcats to shame.
Edit: I just downloaded the 06-07 .pdf file. SICK. I'm gonna need a pair of something for my new Magne-Traction Snow Mullet and I've got some killer choices now.
I never call people haters. I like people with different opinions than myself but I cant shake the feeling that you are angry. Just tell me you're not, and type japanese auto-parts company without typing fucking in the same sentence and I'll back off.
you don't make the rules kid. i can't shake the feeling you like to watch tranny porn. just type "justin timberlakes asshole is tasty as cake" and i will back off.
I've ridden them for 4 months and there is nothing better. Looks aren't everything. Just cause it has pokka dots or tetris doesn't mean it is going to hold up and perfom.
Looks aren't everything. I've ridden lots of flashy bindings in my day, that I wouldn't recommend anyone to try riding with. I think that you are confused about the overall look of Union's binding line. Because they don't "look" the same as all of the other binding brands out there, doesn't mean that they don't perform as well or better than those competing brands.
I put a bunch of time on a pair of Forces this season, and honestly have only good things to say about them. They are one of the more adjustable bindings out there, with a slotted heel hoop, on-the-fly forward lean adjuster, and a slidable foot plate with a toe riser. Not to mention that Union has bullet proof ratchets that can squeeze the blood right out of your foot, if you so desire.
Another benefit that Union brings to the table is a vibration-absorbing rubber layer (Purethane Bushing) sandwiched throughout the baseplate. The rubber adds comfort, and lessens foot fatigue.
Their straps are comfortable, and their toe strap works very well as a conventional toe strap, or as a toe-cap. Some non-cupped (and some cupped) toe straps won't stay over the toe of your boot, no matter what you do. Not the case with Union.
Honestly, I was taken back a few years with the look of Union's high back shape, but when I rode them, they gave me all the heel edge hold I could ever want, and were good and stiff...something that I personally like in a highback. They twisted side to side well, but when you needed the heel edge to pull through for you, there it was.
What I'm getting at, along with Leroy and Mr. Neon are that looks don't matter. Quite frankly, I think that the Union line looks very clean and flawless, and they go about things in a very clever and fresh way. That feeling comes out in their bindings while you're riding them.
Union does a great job with their sales pitch!
I am very interested in these bindings now. I noticed that there was a specific jib binding, that could work for the whole moutain but honestly I don't ride street rails. I stick to park rails and medium to large jumps I don't ride much backcountry but when I get a chance I take it. pipe really isn't my deal.
So my question is which binding would be best for my riding?
and what is the buzz with the blaster bindings? marketing ploy or good binding?
and one thing that kinda bugs me about these bindings is the fact that you can't hide the ankle ladder, but you can hide the toe......but I would forget about it after an hour of riding
As far as I understand, the Airblaster bindings are based off of the Force model, so nothing should really be sketchy on 'em since the only difference in hardware is the airpill imprint on the buckle, I believe.
I have both the Force and Datas and I can hide both ankle and toe ladders on both models. My wife's Lady Accents' ladders don't have this though.
Unless you like a superstiff binding, I'd recommend the Force. They're comfortable and have good flex yet are still really responsive. If you want something a little stiffer and with comfy leather sraps, go for the Datas.
I'm imagining this season's stiffness wouldn't change too much from last season. That said, I don't know the stiffness for this season's bindings, but I know that my Datas are just a hair stiffer than my Unions. Either binding kill it in the park and have a medium flex yet have good responsiveness.
Last season the Datas retailed for $240 and the Force retailed for $200, but it's not difficult to find them going for cheaper than that.
if anyone has the forces and the 32 lashed could you please tell me if they fit together well. also it doesn't really look like they really changed the forces. they look pretty sweet though especially in white.
As long as you get the right size, they fit fine. My size 11 Lashed fit fine in the XL's. My friend got size 9.5 Lashed and the fit in the L's, but I wouldn't try L's with anything larger. (I'd put him in XL's and readjust the heelcups if it were up to me, but they still work.)
tightboards.com has 'em all up in case you want to see the retail prices on 'em. No real differences in price except for the DLX series are going for higher price because of the upgraded features materials. None of the softgoods found in the .pdf file are up yet, apparently.
I am SO stoked to get these things. My shop is putting them on hold for me right now, which is just killer, so soon they will be mine! Ahahaha! I'll for sure put up pictures of these beauties, plus I'll be getting a Capita Mid-Life Theory to go with them. Sweet!
airblasted.blogspot.com is my blog. It's ugly and lame right now.
Looking Good...
I've read & heard a lot of great things about Union. Can't wait to try some out.

Angry little bitch!
How much energy can one man spend on being angry at a japanese auto-parts company? I'm just asking!
ok call me bitch if you want, child.
it doesn't take a lot of energy to type on a keyboard, or to call people names. apparently you find that pretty easy. bitch.
You're right
Ok, I was wrong. It does not take a lot of energy and I am sorry about the name calling. But you sure are an angry little fella.
sure sure
I don't agree with you so I must be angry or even better, a 'hater".
You said it!

I beg to differ.

My bad - most of the models this year will be able to tuck in the toe straps but not the ankle straps.

can u still wear them as a cap strap even though they look like regular toe straps
Yup
you could use them either way. You have the option without needing to replace the toe straps.
