12 Days until The Mongol Rally

I turned into a tomato today. It really wasn't my idea of good time, in fact on top of oppressive heat turning into a tomato was not cool. My wife came home from first aid kit shopping with a couple bags full of random stuff. Considering we are driving a car about the size of the two bags, I felt the quantity of stuff was a touch more than required. I started sorting through the contents and came across a few medicine bottles purporting to contain 5 hours of energy. I was a bit tired and felt 5 hours of energy would be a good idea. I quickly downed the contents and proceeded to read the warning label. It stated "You may experience a Niacin Flush (hot feeling, skin redness> that lasts a few minutes." This was interesting and the room was warming quickly. My wife started laughing as my face tightened. I went to the bathroom and found I had turned into a tomato. 12 Days until the Rally starts. We are just about to our goal for fundraising, you still help by giving directly to the Send a Cow charity or buying mad space on the kajillion dollar car to up anything on you wish

We are going to be updating v

We are going to be updating via a series of different methods, the main one being a little outdated piece of technology called "Pocketmail". It is basically a personal organizer with a built in modem. What makes it pretty unique is that it sends email by being held up to a telephone receiver. This means we can send email from just about any phone in the world, including pay phones. Our website checks a secure email address continuously and posts anything that hits the inbox. Mongolia may be a bit difficult but outside of having a Sat phone we are set-up pretty well.

I will try to post here when I have access to a regular computer or I could shoot an email to one of you guys.

Thanks for the support, I will do my best to keep you updated. I am really interested in what the mountains are like in Kyrgyzstan and the Altai region of Russia. I will take lots of photos. We drive right through Altmaty in Kazakhstan which is contending for the Winter Olympics.

That post is the whole reason we are going, amazing how much a snowboard website can sway your life. When I get asked in interviews how I found out about the rally, I always state that it was from snowboard-mag.com and Compatriot. Cheers for that.
