MINTURN, Colo. -- The Minturn Planning and Zoning Commission has unanimously approved plans for a major ski resort near the former railroad town five miles west of Vail.
The approval requires study of potential problems, including traffic, housing and other issues.
The Ginn Company plans to build 1,700 homes, a ski resort and golf course next to the town. It paid $32 million for 6,000 acres of land on Battle Mountain.
Meanwhile, it also will need approval from federal, state and county agencies.
The resort would be located between Vail and Beaver Creek.
There are no plans at this time to link the proposed development and Vail Mountain, according to Robert Ginn.
