Portland, Ore. - August 17, 2006 - The Dew Action Sports Tour, the pro tour of action sports, today hosted a Snowboard Rail Jam and the Skateboard Park Free Flow Tour Finals at Portland's Rose Quarter during the Vans® Invitational. The four-day competition is the third of five stops of the Dew Action Sports Tour that features skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross.
Michael Casanova, 21, of Breckenridge, Co., took first place in tonight's Snowboard Rail Jam using several switch tricks including a double rotation off the rail. Towards the end of the competition, Jonas Michilot, 18, of Bloomington, Minnesota, began to step things up with a 50-50 backside 360, but it wasn't enough to take first from Casanova.

Casanova, in an act of admiration for his fellow competitor, gave his trophy to Michilot. "Jonas deserves it. He has been riding so well and sticking heavy tricks," said Casanova. "Hands down, this was the Jonas show."

Fourteen-year-old David Loy won the Skateboard Park Finals of the Free Flow Tour, the official amateur series of the Dew Action Sports Tour. Loy, from Orange, California, qualified for Free Flow Tour Finals by winning the Bay Area stop on July 30. He competed in the Skateboard Finals today against 15 other amateur skaters who also qualified this summer. As the winner of the Free Flow Tour, Loy wins a wildcard spot and will travel to Orlando in October to compete against the pros at the PlayStation® Pro - the last stop on the Dew Action Sports Tour.
When asked what he was thinking about today, Loy responded that his fellow skaters were on his mind. "Taylor Smith, Nick Merlino and Dustin Blauvelt...they all killed it! I thought Taylor and Nick had it for sure. I just thank God that I got it," said Loy.
Taking second in Free Flow Tour Skateboard Park Finals was Nick Merlino, 18, of Atlantic City, NJ, with Dustin Blauvelt, 16, of Redford, MI in third and Taylor Smith, 11, of Encinitas, CA in fourth. These four skaters made it through several heats and into finals for the shot at the top spot. The contest followed a jam session format, with four skaters on the course at a time, having only six minutes to impress the judges.
