Every year, Nitro puts out a promotional DVD to let people know what they are all about. Sure, you can read press releases, magazine stories, or check out the riders they sponsor, but the movie is so much more than that. It illustrates the way of life at Nitro, where everyone involved in the company rides and the team riders are part of the family.
In the past, the movie had music by big name bands. This year, taking advantage of the movie’s popularity and the more broad magazine distribution, they are using the opportunity to promote some up-and-coming bands. Some of the bands featured will include retired and current Nitro team riders, magazine writers, photographers, and even the sons of the boss of Nitro himself. It is really amazing to connect with these guys on a level other than snowboarding.
New to the DVD this year is a section entitled “what the pros rock and why”, where you’ll hear about what the team rider’s have to say about their favorite Nitro products. For example, Eero Ettala is featured with his new Team TLS lacing boot. He explains how the new lacing system, which he helped develop, provides an easier and faster way to get the correct feel from your boots. Also, you’ll hear some of Nitro’s other top riders discuss what boards they ride, and under what conditions. There is also a spotlight for the new Raiden binding, which has a convertible toe strap.
The footage for the movie not only comes from staff filmers, but from many different sources. Contributions come from the various video companies that Nitro has partnered with over the season. And, some of the footage even comes from the team riders themselves. The collection of footage includes some of the most insane riding, while capturing the lifestyle that goes along with it. For all of us who ride, we realize that it is a way of life. The movie highlights the day and life of a professional snowboarder. It introduces the viewer to the diverse group of people who are involved with Nitro. As you’ll see, the personalities and lifestyles are as diverse as the riding styles. And, that’s not all. The riders were filmed in locations all over the world, including Switzerland, Austria, Canada, Japan, Southern California, Tahoe, and Utah, just to name a few. To finish things off for the season, High Cascade Snowboard Camp hosted a “Nitro Invasion” session at Mt. Hood, Oregon. Nitro team riders from at least 13 different countries, as well as photographers from all over the world, were guests of the camp. It was a great time for everyone at Nitro, riding and skating together all day long. They even organized a special night shoot on Mt. Hood, exclusively for the Nitro team. With everyone in the same place at the same time, plenty of amazing footage was produced in that week span. All in all, these are some of the features to look out for in the new Nitro team video. It is certain to be the best one yet!
