I had the opportunity to ride a Bataleon "The Enemy" 160 yesterday courtesy of the fine folks at Pure Snowboard in Waitsfield, VT. I figured since this board is quite a bit different from the average board I would give some feedback. If you don't already know, Bataleon utilizes a triple base technology of their own design. Essentially, the tip and the tail are concave such that if the board is lying flat on the floor no metal is touching. Bataleon's website is much more eloquent in the description www.bataleon.com

The board is shorter than my usual stick and I did not have a chance to adjust the stance, as I was riding on my lunch break. That said I was very impressed with the board. It was stable at speed, plowed through the chowder nicely and floated in the limited powder. It was severely cold and I generally don't jump in the cold, however the few times I loaded the tail to ollie there was some real pop. This board utilizes both bamboo and carbon fiber stringers and it definitely shows. As a result of the contoured tip and tail, this board is a blast to butter with. I was buttering on the nose and tried to backside 270 out resulting in a backside 135 out, instead of the typical edge catch the board landed and tracked right out.
All in all, a very fun board to ride, definitely not a gimmick board.
