Snowboard Journal being closed down by Future

Early word is that Future, the parent company of 'Snowboard Journal', is pulling the plug on 'Snowboard Journal' and a few other of its 'womens' magazines. It plans on focusing its energy on 'Future Snowboarding Magazine' and its geek-tronic mags.

I thought this was funny...

So I was reading the current issue of Future Magazine and in the Questions & Answers section, there's a question about park terrain. So this guy said his local resort had an unsatisfying park, no pipe and 2 jumps. And he wanted to know how he could get the resort to improve the park. All normal until I saw where he was from: SALT LAKE CITY

There's so many options for resorts to ride at in SLC. And I believe all SLC resorts have decent parks. So Future magazine made it obvious to me they make up the questions for industry people to answer. They shoulda used some midwest location for more authenticity.

White Lines

Any of you ever read an issue of Whitelines magazine from the UK ? . . . . probably has some of the best articles, pictyres and humor etc etc of any mag . . . . over in Europe Onboard Magazine started off like Future Snowboarding and had Seal on its first ever cover ! yet now it has developed into a really good representation of the euro scene, probably closest thing we have to Snowbard Mag, which i have never seen for sale in these waters.

My favorite though is Gemanys number one snowboard mag . . Monster Backside Magazin . . name says it all !!!!

relax, drago is just bitter that k2 clickers are no longer socially acceptable to click into (as if they ever were).

i was impressed with the first-year design of the 309. designing a board is one thing, designing bindings is a whole different world of complexity.

i give you guys props alone on a visual 'ride' of how i think rome bindings would handle, although i have never used them myself. god, that sounds dumb and nonsensical...

Rome bindings...

Rome bindings might have a metal heelcup but I watched Bartle put them there things to the test for sure and they killed it. No breakage.

Beside the Burton Cartel the Rome 390 is probably the only other binding out there I would rock. However, (never thought I would say this) Flows new high end shit looks pretty good.

I thought this was site was about people that love snowboarding. Not lets talk shit on everytnhing and everyone. The way i look at it if people like shredding in anyway there ok with me. If you dont like something dont look at it, dont buy it but dont tear down the people that work so hard to put there vision on snnowboarding.

future mag kinda blows. i like some of the dudes there, but it's maxim. basically snowboarding for kooks. but hey, that's a large market.

the journal, pretty dope. i never think i have the new issue cuz every fucking cover looks the same. but whatevskis. ya know what it comes down to is money over love. it's pretty obvious to me where people stand. it comes out through actions. the same thing happened with BLUNT mag and larry flynt. he ruined the last standing balls out snowboard mag. it kinda ruined snowboarding in a way. he wanted to make way for "snowboard life" aka "snowboarding for deuchbags"

Tigerbeat

If any magazine is Tigerbeat quality, it's Snowboarder Mag. Take the mag's editor Ben Fee and his Ms. Superpark piece about going into a "sophmore" phase, about going through changes and being comfortable with yourself, and running photos of himself with his hair pulled to one side like the gayest of gay that I've ever witnessed? Are you fucking joking? And you're saying Future is Tigerbeat?

And Transworld has just been copying shit from both Snowboard and Future. Just look at their new cover and much they look like Future or their crap product shoots that look like a preschooler's version of Snowboard. The shit is obvious. And pathetic.

I subscribe to Future. The new issue is solid. Is a Jeff Curtes and Jess Mooney Alaska piece strike me as Tigerbeat? Hell no. I also subscribe to TWS and Snowboarder, but I actually READ Future. I get Snowboarder and Tdub for photos mainly. Like Lumberjack said, Future actually writes in complete sentences. I would subscribe to Snowboard mag but there's nothing to subscribe to and subscriptions were fucked last year. Plus, it was free wherever you went.

Frequency and Snowboard Journal I rarely see either of and when I do I just read them at the bookstore because they're too damn expensive. But it definitely sucks the Snowboard Journal is closing. It was a quality mag.
