most 'core' shop?

well... in this world of giant ski companies bent on making money and not for the sport of snowboarding, there are the equivalent of those types of shops. sure, the idea of business is to make money, but not monopolizing the market...burton. i would just like to see anybody post their opinions on which of their local shops are 'core', and why...

i would have to represent my hometown shop, even though there are 4 in the immediate area. this shop is a converted gas station off of the side of the freeway in good ol colfax, ca. started three years ago by none other than mike basich and his pal jason, the riders union has been a shop that is for the riders, not the corporations. i have gotten countless deals on product, they throw out of control premieres, rail jams, and carry only smaller rider owned brands like capita, some lib tech, bataleon, celsius, grenade, and airblaster, just to name a few. check it out next time you are heading up I-80 from the valley to tahoe.

Shorelineoftahoe.com is ULTRA MEGA CORE!

I've ordered at shorelineoftahoe.com a bunch of times. They always know what they are talking about and they always gave me good advice. They have a ton of stuff and it's always at a good discount!

Ten80 on the 302 in New Hampshire. Go there and get some good shit, cause there is plenty of it.

for sure there's some shops l

for sure there's some shops like that here in the netherlands, you come in and all the kids working there would throw you a little glance without any sign of actually seeing a person, shit's wack...

anyway, I support my local shop Forties, I helped them setting up this local skate event while ago and took photo's for the websites. During the event the shopowner had arranged for one of the skate teamriders who's a crazy punk kid who just rides tranny and bowls like crazy on bigass wheels to get a free tattoo on his whole underleg of a forties bottle. the kid was so stoked it was awesome... after that the owner hooked me up with a new deck for my efforts which was sweet.

either way, any shop that gives something back to the local scene is worth supporting I guess...

how about least core shop?

my vote is SKI MARKET

Darkside Snowboards in Vermont

Darkside in Vermont.
-100% legit.

-they dont carry any ski brand snowboard products; no Soloman, no K2, no HEAD, no bullshit ski companies who got into snowboard products.
-Skiers shunned snowboarders for years, then all of a sudden they saw they could make a coin and all these lame companies started making lame product.

dude, a little respect, please...it's called 'ski ballet'.

Most core shops seem to be a

Most core shops seem to be a thing in the past. Retailers these days seem to have to many box brands shoved up there asses. So they buy it. In return shove push it on consumers. It sucks! Many brands have failed due to this. Through my travels in PA recently I found a place Revival. They dont carry Burton or any ski brands. Good service as well. Usually East Coast shops are loaded with the above. Hopefully that shop will survive long term.

Riders union- thats Mike Basich's shop, glad you're stoked on it...

I'd like to throw out Big Hit(r.i.p. Chris Farris) and The Underground(can't get much more 'core' than Drago) in Breck.

My all time personal favorite shop- The Colorado Boarder in Crested Butte.

Wave Rave - Mammoth, CA (www.waveravesnowboardshop.com)

Pacific Drive - Pacific Beach (San Diego), CA (www.pacificdrive.com) - even tho they stopped sellin Mervin, they are still a solid shop for the area.

Colfax, huh? Represent! Love it. See ya at the Red Frog for karaoke tonight- its a birthday parrrty! Eye-wink

i went into pacific drive back in the ride days-when everyone on ride seemed to be shop-sponsored by them.

i would have bought a surfboard from them, however i did not have the requisite flavor savor/soul patch to do so. i settled on a pair of blades instead and skated up and down o.b.-a much wiser purchase.

So Cal It Hurt?

Whaddya gonna do, LJJ, cry about it?? They didn't hook up the blades w/the hot pink and neon ghost flames like you wanted?

ha.. just joshin ya, Homer. When I lived in PB, Pacific Drive was one of the best place to find my skate kicks, snow equipment (plust they used to sell Mervin), SNOWBOARD Mag, etc. They are rider owned, ran and destroyed- like any good shop should be. I support shops that support the riders that get out there and do their damn thang while bringing me the product that I want and need. All those shops provided me w/that, most especially product/rider knowledge. RIDER ran means kids who know whats up because they embody skating, surfing and snowboarding... period.

Oh.. and boy do I miss love-ly OB. Reggae and fish tacos are bomb baby! Eye-wink

Core???

this one guy would sell gear out of the trunk of his deville. cheap, at your doorstep and service with a smile. is that "core" enough? Jawdropping!

i find most core shops are staffed by 16 year old mfm yo boy wannabe's who dont know shit about the product, but can help you resolve any sag issues you may have, whereas a lot of the big shops actually have staff trained on the product who can awnser any product questions, though perhaps not offer an opinion . . happily there are a couple of places like riders union that fill the void, when i was in New York recently i went to all the shops in town being a tourist n'all, and have to say that New York Pipe Dreams is one of the dopest places to buy your shred stick, super chilled staff who knew what they were talking about, and happy to spend time chewing the fat with a crazy englishman like me . . any place that markets itself as core tends to be the exact oppisite in my experiance . . in fact isnt core the new extreme, i've moved on to radical myself . . .

i once went to a..

shop to get my wife some binder hardware that was so core that no one actually spoke to the customers. damn they were so damn core, like a core sample of my butt hole. oh yeah, this was last christmas.

come on TR...

what was the store???
