Kirkwood?

Ok so I'm stuck in southern california again and there is no snow at my disposal. It's the worst kind of claustrophobic feeling I can imagine. I'm trying to find a new job at the moment, and while almost all the industry jobs I can find seem to be in the southern california area I did find out that Kirkwood was looking for photographers on the mountain. I'm just wondering what your guys' opinions were about Kirkwood because if I can't find a way of out here for a mountain town anytime soon... that kirkwood job is going to start looking really nice.

do it

Kirkwood is one of the most underrated resorts i know of. it gets more snow than anywhere in Tahoe, and its base elevation is second highest to boreal. so the snow is awesome. the terrain is crazy. if you are lookin to shoot backcountry style shots then go. cause the park isnt that crazy. the park can be good but kirkwood is all about powder days. there is no where i would rather be than kirkwood on a powder day. really freindly feeling and pretty low key. it also kinda sucks that there isnt much to do when the lifts close. you could head to southshore for all the fun i guess.

Travel Time?

What's it like driving down to the south shore?

ETA

i think its about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Do it.

Kirkwood is awesome. It's my favorite place in Tahoe. I'd second what was said earlier, about parks etc. But it's an awesome place.
Oh, and if you find my ham radio buried in the snow, let me know, I'd appreciate it :O .

kirkwood

Kirkwood is great. I had a lot of fun there. Would have liked to spend more time there. I can't say much about the area, but like tyler mentioned, you'll need to travel to southshore for some nightlife.
