junky binders

the base plate comes off all the time (its inserted between the rails) and is an extra piece you have to deal with if they aren't mounted

the toe strap is a joke, you better hope it is long enought to come up over your boot because it doesn't come apart

they are heavy

the whole relay concept is pointless, they are no more comfortable, durable or of more quality than any other binding out there, and no one can prove otherwise because manufacturers don't release warranty rates

the whole thing is a flawed concept and over built/overly complicated
plus, why buy ski binders when there are so many other choices out there?

(Burton, SP, Union, Rome, T9, Drake etc)

Ha Fat Boy i couldnt disagree with you more about the Salomons, i put at least 50 days on mine this season and not a problem to talk about . . the build quality is def a step up from any thing else out there and they create no pressure on my feet. I rock the toe strap Ol Skool and it is the comfiest cap or non cap i have ever rocked.

I have been using Union Inverters too this season on my jib decks and have to say they rock too, but not as good as the Relays overall, though i love the simple no bullshit design of Unions.

thats weird i put 51 days in on them and then disintegrated, be careful if you use them first day out next year.

Ha . . i'll be watching every carve i make on day 51

Without Salo boots?

I wear a size 11 ThirtyTwo lashed, could I pull off 07'8 Relay Pros?

Prepare For World Domination

better than rides and burtons

I switched out my spx 88s last year for some ride tomcats. My snowboard friends swear they're better, super stiff and light. Nothing fits like a salomon binding. Solid highbacks, no heelslip, good lateral support on rough terrain. Best strap design I've tried, good materials (no preshaped cheap eva foam), flexy in all the right places. Those rides are so stiff I feel like I might break my ankles if I tweak it too hard.
By the way, I took those bindings to the boardshop when I bought my boots. Bought a pair of thirtytwo lashed boots. They fit just as well as the salomons. Also, tried on a friends relays last season. Fit like a glove.

i have the Relay Pros, and have to say they are the best binding i have ever ridden in 15+ years. I have them mounted on 07 157 Lib Trice, and ride a pair of last seasons Burton Ions..... I dont spend much time in the park cos i prefer natural jumps and jibs and generaly bombing around . . i like them because they are really responsive, yet the soft heel cup allows you to flex n tweak away without feeling like you are going to dislocate something . . they are a bit different, and take a day or so to get used to, but i would definately not go back to normal bindings. They feel far more natural, and the board feels much more responsive to what you do.

The build quality of all saloman bindings puts other makes to shame, i rode Cartels or missons last 2 years and broke 4 pairs, wheras the Salomons just feel so solid, plus they have great straps and cuishoning, i actually think their take on the cap strap is better than Burtons original cap strap.

Anyone who ignores these because they are Salomon is crazy . . i think a pair of these on a magne traction is as good as it gets

Hope this helps

I rode my Relay Pro's all season..

I rode my Relay Pro's all season, and honestly, I had a very similar experience to Eski Mofo.. Best binding I have ridden. Period. I honestly mounted these bindings onto my board, made all the adjustments needed, and haven't touched them since. Nothing has come loose, nothing has broken, and they feel super good. I've ridden over 40 days this season and I spend a lot of time all over the mountain - backcountry to park. The range on the forward lean can be pushed super forward like a burton binding, or can be pulled back so far that you could never catch a heel edge on a rail.

And of course, with the soft heel cup - you can tweak your shit as far as you want.

Kudos to Salomon on making the best binding on the market.

salomon.

salomon makes the most durable and comfortable binding on the market. same goes for the boots. my ideas exaxctly mofo, best binding i've ridden in years. that FDB boot and the relay are the most perfect fit. DB runs that same set up. after putting over 60 days on last years SPX 44's i replaced nothing. they're ready to make 60 more days worth of turns...

and plus, you get to support skiers and a gigantic multinational corporation called Amer as a bonus

"fight for the little guy" indeed!

a win-less...

...situation. good luck. they are everywhere. who owns this mag/website now? oh yeah, right, the skiers. win-less.

david frenchie makes a great binder.

I spent some time on the Relay's last year

they were really good bindings. I think the primary differences as you go up in price are the straps and I believe the slxs have an upgraded cushion systm below the foot. Either way they worked good and were comfy.
