Markku Koski Goes to Stepchild

StepChild snowboards is proud to announce that Finnish ripper and all around nice guy Markku Koski has been added to the team.

StepChild founder Sean Johnson had this to say:

“Markku is most recently known for his Bronze medal in the Halfpipe in Italy.
What some people don’t realize is that Markku is a jump and backcountry destroyer-he’ll kill whatever you put him in front of him and we will do everything we can to help him do just that. Simon, Stian and Fredu just love that guy too.” Stian was probably the most stoked- “Markku has always been one of my favorite riders. I am so stoked that I get to ride with him.”

Markku’s comment:
“I really enjoy riding with the people on the team and for me I just want to progress my riding and have fun doing it- with StepChild I think that they are all a bunch of derelicts but that’s what makes it fun.”

StepChild has some big plans for the up coming season. There has been talk of a team video but we will all just have to wait and see what happens. StepChild is not operating under any sort of industry template but that’s what makes the company so original. Maybe Stepchild won’t become the biggest brand in snowboarding but they will always be the most entertaining.

Markku also rides for 32, Etnies, and Quiksilver.

StepChild Snowboards has been in business for 5 years and operates on the "Bigger Hearts Than Brains" mentality. The current StepChild Pro Team consists of Simon Chamberlain, Fredu Servio, Stian Solberg, Markku Koski and legends Terry Kidwell and Mike Ranquet. www.stepchildsnowboards.com

why would lib drop this guy????????????

I thought the same. The guy

I thought the same. The guy just netted a bronze at the Olympics, and Lib is everywhere now with Travis Rice and Magne-Traction, not to mention they're backed by Quiksilver, who probably has at least *some* funds.

Anyhow, StepChild's team is just sick now and I really hope they pull off the team vid sooner than later. Rumor is Capita has s team vid coming out too, which should also rip.

Can't wait to ride my new Ranquet!

ohh snapp....

lib is the new burton.
j/k
all hail the honorable stepchild!

Lib new Burton?

Lib is the new Burton? Crap, I have to sell my Lib then...
But seriously, Jackson left for Rossignol, then Marku is off to Stepchild, what's going on? But Sean Johnson is not a nobody in the snowboard world, he probably can pull the right strings.

Dan Gerous

lib is the new burton?????

I don't understand how a company like lib which is owned by quiksilver can be anywhere near Burton? Burton is a privately owned company, not owned by people that sit in a board room that don't even know what snowboarding is. Yes Burton is a large company with many assets, but to say its a publicly traded company like Quik, is an absurd comment. You can buy Quiksilver stock. Can you buy Burton stock? You certainly can't. If you would like to look at other companies owned by huge conglomerates: DC < Quik, Mervin is all backed by Quik now, K2 well they sell rollerblades and ski's, Bent Metal is owned by some bike company i believe. Section and Technine are backed by Spyder < sick ski clothes, i mean wherever you look to make fun of Burton, it seems there are many "core" companies that don't really fit the "owned and run by snowborders" profile. Yes Burton did buy Fourstar Dist. and turned it into The Program, but that was because a major skiing company was going to buy it and Forum owned by a ski company? Thats the last thing anyone in the industry needs. I dig lib tech and their boards> they're dope, but yes they are owned by another larger company that certainly isn't "core" if you will. I'm not hating, I hope this is seen as more shedding light on the situation, and hate burton or not, atleast get your facts straight.

that seemed unprovoked, but since you are sporting head to toe Big B, you may be sensitive. I think the reference is to the exodus of riders, similiar to Burton a few years back.

....

I heard Danny Kass is riding for Santa Cruz, Shaun White is on Rome, and Scott E. Wittlake has a pro model coming out with K2.

isn't Palmer riding for Farmer

(.)(.)

sure, rah rah Burton and all that but Libs roots run as deep as Jakes do, and both Pete Saari and Mike Olsen deserve much respect for their contributions to the industry, and yeah Quik bought them out a while back, but those guys still deserve and get my respect

you should probably do some research as well

Bent Metal is owned by Mervin/Quik

Section has severed ties with Spyder (so they say) and have entered into a business agreement with T9

Jon Jackson used to ride Sign

Jon Jackson used to ride Signal boards - now on Rossi.
Eric Jackson has ridden Lib boards for a long time now.

Marku is a ripper that I wish the best for! I hope he gets together another sick vid part this year no matter what board he is riding.

was John on signal? i thought it was Sims?

yup

he was with sims.

from what

i could remember. i believe that in Draw The Line, J. Jackson is on a Signal snowboard in a few of the shots, but i don't believe he was with Signal. i may be wrong though.

stepchi-erd numba one!

dope. im stoked on this news.

Oh my

That dudes crotch glows really bright, do all pro snowboarders have this capability? if so it is no wonder they can pick chicks up so easily!
