Future of the Snowmass Base Village
30-year Vision Finally Realized
Snowmass is finally becoming a full-service destination resort with a new village at the base of the resort to finally match the world-class mountain. Snowmass, North America's premier resort, is undergoing a major change; future visitors to Snowmass mountain will finally be able to stay for après-activities, dinner and lodging with the new base village, instead of driving back to Aspen.
The long-term vision of Aspen Snowmass is coming to life, with a new base village and mountain plan to match your passion for riding. Already one of North America’s premier resorts, Snowmass is undergoing a renaissance.
Plans for the new base village in Snowmass ignited a growth-succession for the entire town, prompting area developers to snatch up nearby commercial properties. All the future retail in base village has already been purchased, and existing properties, such as the Snowmass mall and shopping center sold for more than $100 million respectively. "Due to the pent up demand and high prices in Aspen, Snowmass is one of the brightest real estate opportunities in the country," says Scott Calliham, Director of Sales for the Snowmass Base Village.
Snowmass Base Village will be the ski industry's first truly “green” base village, raising the bar for environmental responsibility at resorts around the world. Pollution associated with energy consumption comprises the primary "ecological footprint" of any mountain resort development, so this is where Snowmass innovation will begin.
As Snowmass is located just nine miles from downtown Aspen, the authenticity of Snowmass can be a refreshing balance to the glitz and glamour of Aspen. The Aspen airport is just six miles from Snowmass Village and nearly 150 flights per week ensure connections from points across the globe with new direct flights from Chicago & San Francisco plus expanded service from L.A., Denver and Salt Lake City.

THIS WEEKEND IN ASPEN
Colorado had a decent snow accumulation last week so I decided to venture out to Aspen. I was trying to incorporate some pow turns with some Apre, and Aspen has never let me down. It was a great decision, there were some fresh tracks to be had with some nice conditions. I took care of business on the hill and got the invite to the celebration for the future of the Snowmass Base Village. Like with every party I go to in Aspen I am never quite sure what I am going to see or who I am going to meet. This Snowmass Village celebration was right up my alley and there were alot of heads there involved with this project that were shredders and wanted to talk Snowboarding. Once again Aspen did not disappoint. Here are some pics from this weekend in Aspen, I also got to Hang out with Blotto this weekend, He was hard at work as Usual and I was lucky enough to get a few shots of his from this weekend in Aspen for the website. Enjoy.

As you can see plenty of snow in Aspen right now.

Some fresh tracks I had to poach.
