Block Party 2006 Opening Night SUPERPOST
Words by Tawnya Schultz. Photos by Larry Nuñez. Snowboard industry heavy weights fled to South Lake Tahoe last night for the The Block Party 2006. To no surprise Mark Frank once again stepped it up, welcoming athletes and media at The Block Hotel early Friday evening. Everyone mingled outside and throughout the lobby simultaneously downing complimentary cases of P.B.R., margaritas and scrumptous fresh tacos. MYG and the indamix records crew blasted tunes and a jumbo tron featured snowboard flicks in the parking lot. Personal from the G4 network currently filming The Block reality show ran around viciously attempting to capture all the excitement and party footage. Peeps headed towards the Nevade stateline around 10 p.m. for the Nitro kick-off party inside Bill's casino. The extravaganza continued at Vex nightclub into the wee morning hours. Around daylight, shredders stumbled to their rooms in hopes of catching some shut-eye for the big day ahead. Creepy Cyle in the DVS room. Gary Hansen personally checks everyone in. Connie The Block hostess. Zak Hale and Joey Sexton. Rocket One and Kable Roc. Travis Wood, Tonino Copene and MFM. Royal Blunts crew in tha house. Revok from AWR Crew. Finished Piece. Sick shit. Right on, Connie is awesome. You definitely got the right hostess-with-tha-mostess when you got her. And always good to see you too Gary- albeit ever so briefly, as always- getting common with those random run-ins, huh? Funny. It was definitely a random night with random friends running around the lake... always good to see good people. Especially when they are brought together for the cause. Looks like the even went well and the riders had fun, on and off the course. Props, Gary!
