We woke up to about five inches of snow this morning, left over from a freak storm that rolled through Big Bear just after midnight last night. This morning, it was bluebird skies in town, but cloudy at the resort. Oh well. Rome's Premature Jibulation was scheduled for today, and Bear's newly setup "Scene" was blanketed in a few inches of soft stuff. The setup in The Scene consisted of a fairly high down rail, a tombstone log (shown above), a funbox, a plastic kicker, and a long log stall.
The trick of the day (as far as I'm concerned) was this one guy who was trying front flips off of the plastic launch ramp. The first attempt broke the tail of his board, but that didn't stop him from chasing the trick. I never saw him land it, but it made things pretty entertaining.
My personal favorite in The Scene right now is the tombstone log. I've been sessioning it for two days now, and have been having lots of fun on it. I haven't tried a handplant (or rib plant) on it just yet, but I'm sure that time will come. All eyes were on the tombstone at the bottom of the setup, and there were some really impressive tricks going down on it.
A bunch of riders showed up to ride the Rome Premature Jibulation, and despite the adverse weather conditions, everyone had a great time.
