Snowboards Hot Item for Thieves

TAHOE CITY - Thieves with a taste for snow are prowling resorts for snowboards, particularly the Burton brand.

Of the 24 reported snowboard thefts from Nov. 24 to Dec. 10 at Boreal, the majority were Burton boards, according to the Nevada County Sheriff's Department. Of the boards, one was recovered and another was lost. No skis have been reported missing yet this season.

This is why I... A. Don't

This is why I...

A. Don't ride a Burton
B. Cover my boards in shit (i.e. stencils, stickers, bobble head dolls, etc)
C. Don't stop for hot cocoa
D. Love my hideous core shots!

Honestly though...these dudes are F'n goons. Go steal TVs in the suburbs.

don't be silly

you really don't do all that stuff for this reason only? that's ridiculous. you can insure a snowboard for something like $5 a month. getting a no-name board lowers the likelihood of it getting stolen but also lowers the likelihood of you having as much fun and not blowing out a knee or getting other injuries from boards breaking. just don't leave you're board sitting around and it won't get stolen. when people tell you to leave your board outside, just look at them like they're stupid because they are.

seriously,

it's not that hard to take your board in the lodge with you when you're takin a quick break. just keep it in sight. even if there's a sign that says "keep your skis and boards outside", take it inside and set it down somewhere out of the way of other people.
