Slashing Silly at Stevens Pass

Last week, I took a little road trip to take advantage of all the fresh snow and cold temps we were gettin' in The Great Northwest. After making my way through Washington with stops at Crystal, Mt. Baker and then up to Canada to ride Whistler, the trip concluded with a final day at Stevens Pass. Stevens Pass is a smaller, lesser known gem of a mountain. And lucky for us...they got a foot of fresh the night before we decided to go. The Baker family (Jeff, Lily [pictured above] and 6-month old Mika) and I headed up early to get first chair.

There was so much snow that the resort even had to delay the opening for about a half hour! The powder was light and fluffy, with unusually low freezing levels and chilly temperatures blanketing the region. Baker and I (above) slashed our way through endless fresh turns all morning long, and practically had the entire mountain to oursleves.

The road up the hill was covered in new snow.

Mika getting a ride inside the lodge on her mama's back.

First thing we saw in the morning!

Baker getting an early morning turn in.

Stevens is very peaceful place when it snows.

Ski patrol got some nice tracks.

The place was so empty, it felt like we were on a snowcat tour!

Baker was on camera duty too all day, and I was stoked.

This is what he was looking at all morning.

Fresh snow is fun.

By mid morning, the sun started to peak out.

Baker took a break to hang with Mika in the lodge so Mama could get some turns in too. Lily and her friend Julie cold chillin' in the woods.

There was still fresh lines all over. Stevens is the bomb.

Lily even showed me a few misty lines.

It was so cold, I had to run the Grenade Sub Zeros.

DDC design comin' thru once again with some valuable info.

Don't leave home without 'em.

Lily and Jeff traded babysittin' duties again; Jeff and I headed back out.

Jeff still found some freshies late in the day.

And so did I!

Man, those steep pow turns are where it's at.

After a long day of face shots, we finally had our fill. Luckily we got a little break from all the new snow after that storm...I couldn't even take any more. Check out www.stevenspass.com for current conditions. No more shreddin' for us though...tomorrow it's off to conquer Vegas for SIA. Hope that's enough shred shots for ya, cuz get ready for a ton of party pics coming up this week.

Wow Cool Story Hansel.

Nobody cares tho cuz its just you and Baker. Now if it was like Terje and BigMountain Jones or Dexter Rutecki and TJ Burke (Aspen Extreme) then you might actually captivate the audience player.

No but on the real real tho, to my main brown bro comming out of the true dirty south, ill shots and some good turns homeboy. Wish we could get that effect here in CO.

Nice Sub Zero's. Viva la Grenade!
