Ride's Snowboard Art 5 Winners Announced

Ride's Snowboard Art 5 went off without a hitch on Friday, February 2 at The War Room in Seattle, WA. With the Top 30 of approximately 200 entries from all over the world hanging in a gallery-like atmosphere, people came from as far as the East Coast to check out this year's entries and find out first hand who the lucky winners are. So without further ado, and with huge congratulations from Ride, these are Ride's Snowboard Art 5 Winners:

Best of Show: Alex Carrasco Gavilán with "Ride Research" from Barcelona, Spain wins $1000 and a Limited Edition Ride Snowboard featuring his winning artwork

1st Runner Up: Peter Gregg with "Addition" from Tewin, UK wins $500 and Ride Bindings

2nd Runner Up: Pauli Kervinen with "Impossible Organs" from Rovaniemi, Finland wins $300 and Ride Boots

3rd Runner Up: Travis Kipper with "Amor" from Temecula, California wins $200 and a Ride Jacket and Pants

New this year, Ride also introduced the People's Choice Award. With the Top 50 Entries posted on Ride's website for one week only, over 700 people voted (you could only vote once!) and the winning entry received over 400 votes, which just goes to show people like skulls! Congratulations to Nick DiDomenico from Lodi, New Jersey who wins the People's Choice Award for "Skull Boys," receiving $100 and Ride Swag. And the best part about this award is that Nick and his wife flew all the way from Jersey (not knowing he had won anything) to attend the opening, so he was present to accept the honors!

Ride would also like to give big ups to Chris Buzelli from New York and Dylan Decoster of Rhode Island who came out for the opening ... your support is greatly appreciated and it was very nice to meet you both!

Thanks to everyone who came to the reception and stayed late night for DJ Babu - the place was packed and everyone seemed to have a killer time. Thanks to Marcus and The War Room for having the reception for the 2nd year in a row, to Teresa and Big Ink for printing the Top 30 Entries and Winner Boards, and to Peter at the Stranger. But most especially, thank you to all the Snowboard Art 5 Entrants who make this entire contest possible in the first place. Congrats to all the winners from Ride ... this year's competition was the tightest yet. We look forward to seeing what you've got for us next year! Stay tuned to Ride's website this summer for details on Snowboard Art 6

overall I thought the top 30

overall I thought the top 30 entries were better than years past, but the winner did not stand out for me.

Gross as hell

Those graphics suck. What the hell was Ride thinking? Nevermind, they're Ride...
