Alyeska Resort Surpasses 500 Inches of Snowfall

GIRDWOOD, AK – February 14, 2007 – Where else in the world do you find this kind of snow? The recent snowfall that fell at Alyeska Resort pushed annual snowfall totals to 510 inches, making Alyeska Resort one of the first resorts in North America to reach the 500” bench mark. More snowfall is forecasted for the next five days and Alyeska Resort is looking forward to breaking the all-time snowfall record.

“Moving here after two decades in Jackson Hole where 500” is a huge season, it’s truly amazing to see so much snow in early February”, said Rich Eidem Vice President & Owner Representative. Don McLean Vice President and Director of Real Estate added, “After 33 years in Colorado I am convinced that Alaska is the future of skiing in North America”.

Alyeska Resort broke an all-time record for snowfall in the month of December with over 283” breaking the old record of 274” in December 2001. Skiing and riding is phenomenal enjoying seemingly endless powder days.
