Mammoth part Deux

Javier_Silva

Where to begin. Mammoth is one of my favorite places to travel to. Although there may be no urban rails, and there may be no panda express, in-n-out or other quality restaurants, there are plenty of things to shoot, you just have to keep your eyes open. I enjoy shooting things that no one would ever think to shoot. I think it allows me to be a bit more creative and gives me the freedom to shoot something knowing that no one has ever done it before. Javier Silva (pictured) is a rider who rides to the same philosophy. He would rather spend all day free riding through the trees than lapping the park. He believes (and if any of you have ever seen the movie motocrossed on the Disney channel you will know this too) that if you spend your time free riding you will become a much better all around rider, and it will make you stronger in the park for it. Because of that I really enjoy riding, and shooting with him.

I am back in Bro-Cal as of right now, with plans to shoot the contests and do a little free-shooting at the Park Wide-Open at Bear. I will post from that. After Bear I am going to take a few breather days and then fly out to NH.

what about

Pita Pit? I walked to that place almost every night last weekend. AND it's open till like 2. Nothing beats the babagunush. Post more photos.

Good Wood

Nice photo. Good to see you got some shots & ride time in w/ someone who shares your outlook on the hill. I much agree when it comes to riding and shots (not denying Mammoth any respect for their beautifully sculpted parks). Mammoth offers up some beautiful nature that can make any shot magically 'special'. Good wood (especially old dead trees/wood) and massive rocks/boulders, creatively placed among the natural terrain, always serve up a decent and special shot (and are my personal fave). It takes the eye of the photographer (and creative mind of the rider) to figure out where that spot is, but with a good eye its shown, and until then... it just waits there patiently.

This is definitely a great site to showcase your shots and share a good day on the hill, hope to see more from your season. Good call on ASI in your previous post too, gorgeous place. And speaking of big rocks, about 5 yrs ago on my way to work @ the Bowl one morning, a friend & I were the second vehicle to a massive rock slide that planted two huge boulders on Old 40 (about 2/3 the way up Donner Summit). One was the size of 2 F450's, the other half the size of that- a couple damn big rocks that showed up in seconds of where they weren't placed before. We ended up having to go back around and they had to blow up the boulders and push it all over the other side. Back to point, Donner's ASI is a nature-ally beautiful place to ride out and shoot in. Let me know when you plan on reattempting that session over there, Donner is awesome and I'm always down to ride that area.
