SoCal hasn't been getting the snow that Colorado and the NW has, but we have been making up for it with lots of sunny days. A big storm is rolling in as I type this, but yesterday we had quite the session, catching the last of the sun and slush.

The Park Wide Open rolls into town tomorrow, and runs for tem days. It's Bear's celebration of snowboarding. There is an event every day, from a girl's Nikita slopestyle tomorrow, to a night jib jam session in "The Scene" to a qualifier for Superpark 86 (or whatever the count is up to).

Lots of shredders from all over have made their way out to Bear for the festivities, and were in on the shoot yesterday. Justim Meyer was heading up the session, filming parts for Bear's next video. No word what it will be called yet, but I know there are some good names kicking around, and plenty of great footage. Maxwell (above) came down from my future hometown of Boulder, CO. We were all stoked, getting 180's and 3's off of this glorified pole jam, when Max and Scott Vine started tearing it apart. The trick was front board, tail tap, backside 3 out. Pretty gnarly. They both got it.

Then from nowhere, this guy drops in, ninja style and goes for a rodeo back 5. Gets it and reverts the first try, then owns the second attempt. Everyone's jaw was on the ground.

Bear's Marty Ward was out, getting the Daily Photos for Bear's site.

Bear native Chad Tarbell came from Breck for the Wide Open as well.

Minnesotan Joe Mertes. Justin is on the ladder, getting the shot. The footage looks sweet.

B-Shaw and Tarbell.

At times, there was a line waiting for the three snowmobiles giving rides up to the big table. I think that everyone hit it 30 times each. Good stuff.
It's cloudy here today, but we're fixing to get pummeled. This storm is suposed to drop a mimimum of a foot this weekend. Hopefully we get more. Next week: lots of sun.

kid pulling the rodeo
There are a few kids from Japan living in Big Bear that can really ride. I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of them because he looks familiar.
Whoever it is, mad props.
