I know this isn't a big deal to most of you but,....

As most of you know, I'm a almost 36 year old Mom of 3.
This season has really been the first since I started snowboarding in 03/04 that I have been able to get back into it again. So I made a goal for myself: to take a jump and land it, and ride a "box".
Now when I started snowboarding, I took a couple small jumps near the end of the season, and never was able to land without falling. And the final one, I hurt my ankle to the point I couldn't walk on it without pain for a few weeks.

Last week, I was bumped into a couple of guys at Hidden Valley Ski here in Missouri. (Stop laughing,.. I know,.. I know,... especially coming from Cai and WA!) They were about 25 and let a Mom tag along since they were newer to riding too. They definitely helped me get my "snow legs" back, and my confidence too! (THANKS GUYS!) We kind of played, "Follow the leader" and on of the things was a jump. We tried it several times, but never landed it without falling. (I'm still sore from trying,.. but heay,.. it's a GOOD pain!) :)
Then we headed to the double black diamond where the BOX was. I have never tired a box, rail or anything like that before,.. so I was pretty nervous. They went first, slid across and fell at the landing, but heay... they had fun. I was proud of them.
Next came my turn.... I got scared on the first run and hit the breaks. *Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!* I walked back up and tried again... and this time,... I did it!! HOORAY!! The one guy even got a pick of me doing it! He said he would e-mail it to me, but it's been a week and I haven't gotten it yet. :( Oh well. I wanted to put it on my MySpace: www.myspace.com/remingerslove4u

Last Wednesday, Hubby met me there with the kids and I attempted that jump again. First one I got scared. Second time I jumped,... then crashed HARD. Hubby gave me some ideas, and encouragement. Third time,... I went a bit faster,.. (saying something about "Ohhhh this is going to HURT...." when I was approaching the jump) jumped, and ... LANDED IT WITHOUT FALLING. I was so excited!!
I met both my goals for this season,... and I honestly can't wait for next season. Hmmm,... what should my goals be? The "C" box for sure,.... landing the boxes without falling or eating my teeth, lol...

Any suggestions for goals,... things to push me and advance?

Again,.. I know this isn't a big deal for most of the rest of you,... but to me, my Husband and kids.... it's big!
LOL,.. the #1 reaction I get out here is, "Your a Mom,.. and you SNOWBOARD?!........ COOL!!" Ya. I'm a Snowboarding Mom, and I just love it!

Your Mom SNOWBOARD's!

Wonderful! Thank you for sharing your riding story with us, its good to see you're gettin out there and enjoying the ride- the pain AND the glory! I think any good goal is just to keep on riding. It already sounds like you're motivated and in good spirits- the key!- and that should pull you through the rest of your seasons. Once you've got the spirit of the ride, you'll naturally wanna hit anything that comes along. Don't make it too structured.... just enjoy the ride and play on the hill like it was your personal playground... cause it is. Once you ride for yourself and just delight in being on snow and in the wonderful nature that comes with it, you truly grab hold of the gift of snowboarding... independence through riding in nature- with the adrenaline rush! Some People are naturally adrenaline junkies (sounds like you're one too on a deck on the snowy hill, aka- a 'snowboarder')- and once you've grasped that, you'll stay motivated and keep progressing. Get inspired from videos and other people on the hill who's style you enjoy... take the advice given and make it your own... then go out and continue making the mountain you're playground. Good to hear you're going for it. The only advice I give people... keep laughing! Trust me, it helps. And when you get rocked, laugh harder... then get up and charge harder!!

Ride On, Amiga... Ride On! : )

Thanks!

Thanks girl! I will most definately keep my spirits up and motivated. I wish I lived in CO or back West again. Hopefully in the next couple years we will be able to. Until then,.... I will always make a goal for myself to do and try everything in my path,... except for small dogs and children. ;) lol

Try the...

I think your next step should be to come out to Colorado and hit one of the Super-Pipes. Way more fun then the c-box for sure. Ask todd... he knows! Keep on havin' fun out there on your board!
