Late on a Thursday Night in April of 07 two young snowboard company owners set out for The TWS 20th Anniversary Party in South Lake Tahoe. Our mission was three fold.
#1 Attend the TWS 20th Anniversary Party!
#2 Get a picture with Damian Sanders.
#3 Rescue Team Rider Travis Limoge so he can do Superpark in CO this week.
Here is how we did:
We left Denver late and hit I 70 toward Summit County. A short drive through Rabbit Ears Pass and we found ourselves in Steamboat Springs Colorado and promptly stopped at the 7-11 for some refreshments. Once in Wyoming the very thirsty "German Ski-Doo" needed a fill up.
Ryan Peterson One of Lucid Notions Co-Owners found the local truck stop filled with lots of intestine busting goodies. Shortly after the stop I had to take oder control into my own hands.
Driving through the night and into the morning made us very tired and once in South Lake we hit the first Hotel that would have us.
Fatigued by the long hours behind the wheel Ryan and I took advantage of the fine accommodations at the Lakeside Inn and Casino.
We woke up a little late. Still hung over from the drive we put on our professional beverage consuming skills and headed down the street to the TWS 20th party. We stumbled around the Mont Bleu for a moment before finding the small lounge where we were supposed to be.
And there were a lot of people there!
Once in the lounge we found free drinks, food and a Team Challenge Awards Ceremony going on. I quickly grew tiresome of all three....
And stepped outside for a breath of fresh air. I stumbled across some local skaters taking advantage of the parking garage.
Ryan joined me outside were a few more photos were snapped... then we headed back to the Lakeside Hotel and Casino for a quick and delicious Prime Rib Dinner. It was there where our card was declined, our levels were lowered and our composure was revitalized! We paid our bill with cash and headed back to the party. (Which had moved down the hall to a larger club setting.)
Upon our arrival... team rider Travis Limoge Lucid Notion Snowboard Co, Eesa Lux Layering, and Anarchy Eyewear shot this photo of a very intoxicated man outside the club! (Photo taken @ or around 10PM)
After being almost being shown the door for his stunt... Travis instead made his way to the enterance and hooked up with Ryan Peterson and posed for this picture:
On the dance floor was a "who's who" of riders and invited company personal. With liquids flowing and the dj spinning.... the party begin to come alive. Travis even got down for a minute.
On the floor we met a Tahoe Local named Bailey.
She is a rider, college student and photographer that made here way down to South Lake from Truckee to see what was going down at the TWS 20th. A few more overpriced drinks and we were all ready to relax.
I decided to leave the party a little early (3 AM) to hit the Prime Rib Dinner over at Lakeside and maybe get some ZZZ's before attempting to hit Heavenly in the morning. And Travis had this to say about my abrupt departure.
No free tickets to Heavenly.... so we woke up late and tried to hit the local golf course. Travis decided to sit and watch from the street.
After realizing we had been awake for almost two days.... and did not have our golf clubs with us (And that I am a lefty so renting is almost out of the question) we grabbed ourselves a few pints and headed to the The Block Hotel to see if anything fun was going on down there.
The inn was not full but since we were staying down the street we decided to make our way back to Nevada and get to packing up our crap to head home. On the way Ryan and Travis made some headway on proper Tahoe sticker placement.
We stopped briefly to check the damage from the night before....
On our walk back we enjoyed some hot dogs and beer at Tahoes only "smoke free" casino. As Travis and Ryan were watching previews of the nights upcoming fight on TV... I went out and tried to find them an Easter Gift.
We had a great time in Tahoe and everyone we met over our 36 hour trip was really nice. We never found Damian... but did enjoy a hell of a party for TWS. We found out that prostitution may be legal in Nevada... but truckers can't buy hookers at Rest Areas!
Should Snowboard Magazine throw down on a Anniversary Party we will be there too! (And good for us... Snowboard Mag is in Boulder) We were able to rescue Travis and bring him to Colorado and if the weather is good.... our next super post will be from Superpark in Keystone Colorado later this week! Hope the season went well for everyone....

...speaking of hookers, i would never bring one to the lakeside inn for fear of her rejecting my money due to the utter disgust of the environment.
and damn, lakeside inn...that brings some memories back. that was the place to go for all heavenly employees on pay day; they had this wheel that you would spin while cashing your pay check at the desk (you would at least get a free bowl of chilly or make some bank around $50 which was huge when i was only making $6.50...fucking boardroom.). naturally, i ate chilly the entire season, snowboarded every day, explored the b/c and stared at the lake...what beauty.
god damn, those were good days...good post.

It wasn't that bad!
LJJ..
I realize the place was a shithole... but it wasn't that bad. And I didn't see any place in Lakeside selling chilly... but for $8.99 you can't beat a cut of prime rib (as noted in the post several times) with all the fixin's...especially after how much shit we we bougt and consumed from Dart!
Thanks for reading about my first time in Tahoe... Hopefully it won't be my last.

Some Love for Lakeside!
Hey now, I was just enjoying my Fuel TV and $2 drinks there (again) last night w/friends from outta town that were staying there. Lakeside is the only casino that still somewhat takes care of Locs. Still kicks down the drink toke w/the check cashing (used to be 2) and $2 drinks 24hrs a day (used be a buck, but hey). Can't beat Fuel TV and a cheap, good beer. I'm a fan.. : )
Sounds like a good trip, D! The prime rib din is a classic and pretty decent prime rib for the area. Don't miss out on the late-night $2.99 eggs & bacy served nightly (and best enjoyed around 4am as drunk grub'ns). And Edgewood is an amazing course. I work there in the summers and I'm SO ready for it to get going.
LJJ, they've updated the L-side in the last 8 yrs since I used to live there and the food/scene ain't have shab. That place definitely has its history. Let me know when you get up here and I'll help you get re-acquainted the place (I know the anticipation must be killin you).
: )
/// 1997/98 season represent
i forgot about the drink coupons, those were the best.
and i am just messing about lakeside, i agree with you, they did/do take care of south shore's most trashiest (myself included).

Classy vs. Trashy
There is def that fine line between classy and trashy.. and trashy definitely wins out more often in this town. Stand proud! Vegas can keep the classy AND the trashy (its also a place you need to be able to get away from to truly appreciate). And atleast you can still get into any club in jeans and kicks here...
South Lake Tahoe 911 in the making daily... heheh.. Lakeside Security should represent... ahah... PERFECT.
Love the Trash...now take it out~
My roommate is in love with the trashy nature of this hotel. This is why I gave him the t-shirt I received for free with my "frequent gambler" card.
We are from extreme northern minnesota my friends...this "trashy" thing you speak of is our way of life!!
Viva... the Lakeside Inn!
