We get some stories from Shaun that take us back to surfing’s heyday, and he talks about his new book that’s getting high acclaim, “Surfer’s Code.” Plus, we’ll be checking in with surf fans on the North Shore to put their Pipeline knowledge to the test. This week on FUEL TV’s The Weekly Update With Boost Mobile, we kick things off in Park City Mountain Resort, Utah for the Roxy Chicken Jam where Manuela Laura Pesko edged out Torah Bright in the Superpipe competition, and Tara Dakides takes the slopestyle contest over 16-year-old Jamie Anderson and Torah Bright in third. With the two podium finishes, Torah Bright is named the overall TTR Women’s Champion.
In surfing news, the women took center stage at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, and tour rookie Stephanie Gilmore won the prestigious contest, just edging out former world champion Sofia Mulanovich in the finals.
In skateboarding news, The 2007 Phoenix Am was held at the Rio Vista Skatepark in Peoria, Arizona and Collin Provost took top honors with Dustin Blauvelt in second and Magnus Hanson in third. Sierra Fellers won the Zero Best Trick Contest.
In other skateboarding news, Sun Diego Boardshops hosted the second annual Spring Break Yo Self Contest in San Diego, and Tommy Sandoval won the best trick contest over the Rincon Replica, while Justin Figueroa took second and Sierra Fellers landed in third.
The latest stop of the Florida Bowlriders Cup in Cocoa Beach, Mike Barnes won the amateur division and Benji Galloway took the pro over Tim Johnson, who came in second, and Jimmy Marcus in third.
And in the Weekly Update One-on-One, Hawaiian Ian Walsh talks about searching for the next big wave and his pro career.
