Sims Snowboards Photo Shoot: Day 1

Today kicked off day one of Sims Snowboards spring 07 photo shoot at Copper Mountain, Colorado. But wait, where was Tom?!

Jeff Buice, Marc Vitelli and Carly Williams were all pumped to be out of their offices at Sims. Instead, they were in their riders' office, the mountain. Sims in-house crew hired the talented Danny "doc" Zapalac to come in and get the foto job done. Riders Gaetan Chanut, Steve Fisher, Colin Langlois, James Frederick and Leslie Glenn were all up in the mix. The focus of the shoot was for some of the riders to showcase the new Sims snowboards and other riders to showcase the new Sims outerwear line.

Day one started off with a nice session on the quarterpipe/hip and then later moved on to the pipe. Before I go typing your eyes out, here are a few fotos...

Sims is also offering a new outerwear line.

Today's start to a 3 day session went well, aside from Gaetan taking the worst of the bails. While throwing down the mean frontside alley oops he caught the top, yes the top, of the log and it threw him virtually upside down to the landing, foto #5. Gaetan is known for his amazing back country kicker, cliff and cornice skills. Hoping to see you out there again tomorrow Gaetan.

Stay tuned for day two.

enjoy the shred...

Doesn't it feel good to pay less!

This would be really cool if Sims was actually still a snowboard company now wouldn't it.

Info about Sims being bought by Payless Shoe Source

Snowboarding as a commodity.... fun! When is the $20 Gaeten Airwalk pro-model shoe going to be available from Payless. I'll be waiting in line for that one.

Read into it dear... it will help you in the time to come!

stoked

to see someone supporting Colin.

I can believe it...

But in this day and age what is a real snowboard company? Burton? Yea sure at least the originator still owns it but its also the most commercial company out there. The way I look at it is okay Sims might be owned by Payless however if they keep a good path and make the right moves for the sport, make good boards and overall just support the sport then thats about as real of a snowboard company you can get in this day and age.

Not a Snowboard Company?!?

OK, we get it. We're backed by Payless. Though Payless is financing our operation, they are not running it. Who is? Well, the small staff of collective is. Is Tom Sims still involved? Yes, he is. Wouldn't be Sims otherwise. Will you see Sims in Payless soon? No. It would not make sense.

Let me dispel some of the myths. We are not some big corporate conglomerate sitting in our offices counting Money. I have never seen anyone here wear a tie. I *have* seen everyone here on the slopes, if that makes you feel any better. You have dug in enough to find out who our financial backers are, but have you dug a little deeper to find out who *we* are? If you did, I think you would find that Sims is being run not by a big fortune 5 company, but a small group of core players who are passionate about what Sims is, was, and will be.

Here's a better link for theCollective

And you want the world to believe what?

Okay to all the Pettet fans out there:

As your public advisor I can only say this:

The snowboard industry is (And has been) changing. There are people ( Denver Biz Journal Story on Bruce Pettet) who would like for you to believe that the brands they bought over the years still have some validity to you the consumer.

He (And his staff over at "the collective.") perpetuate the belief that consumers want to buy this crap they make for pennies overseas...under the guise that the brands are core?

Pull the wool over our eyes once again you bastards! You made your money... now get the hell out of this industry and let the people that love it take care of it!

Lamar, LTD... Sims... Who are you kidding?

Do you think Bert, Perry and Tom (Regardless of their perceived public and sometimes contractual involvement in the brands you bought.) have anything to do with the decision making of the brands they sold many years ago?

You may believe you are "core" but you will never run a snowboard company! You will never design the actual product we ride every day... and you will never really know what it is like to be a part of the family of snowboarding. Your "parent" (like any good frat family) bought you into the party... and we all know you are an imposter...no mater what "brand" you present yourself as!

And shame on you Tom! You should have stopped having your name involved the day those snowboards bearing your name were turned into a commodity!

This is what you need to know about Collective International

just another hater!

Public advisor you say? what's up with that? all you do is hate on sims for what? trying to keep snowboarding alive and still be in the game? you think that you may be "core" but you're not! what is it that you do then? there really isn't any meaning to that word in the "industry" these days! what you may think is core, is being run by companies just like collective doing the same thing. without people and companies like these snowboarding would be an industry that wouldn't survive. So if you knew as much as you claim you'd realize that everything you said about this is complete bull shit! i bet you think O-matic is core too right.... NOPE just some shredders trying to pay the mortgage just like everyone else! so get over yourself and shut up about it.... stop hating and get off you're lazy ass and do something then! Rather than just talking shit on people who are actually doing stuff with themselves.
