Tahoe City, CA. Alpine Meadows will once again play host to some of the
best live bands this spring, ranging from great acoustic artists to
everyone's favorite bluegrass bands, to electric jam house music. Spend
the morning cruising Alpine's legendary spring terrain and conditions,
and dance away the afternoon listening to well-known bands from around
the country. This year's Battle of the Bands Spring Concert Series will
include audience participation, in the way of voting which band is
indeed the best of Tahoe! Each week, skiers and boarders will be able
to vote on bands' stage presence, songs, vocals, hot licks and chops,
and best overall performance. The competition will be close due to the
incredible talent in this spring's three-month lineup:

Concert #3: Mama Sutra.
"MamaSutra is the new word in funk, but it doesn't stop there. Deep
grooves and sexy vocals punctuate jamming improvisations that keep fans
coming back for more. The highly danceable music the band provides is a
testimony to the live experience and is best enjoyed in the company of
others. The Southern California-based foursome brings to mind bands
such as Sly and the Family Stone and early 70s Grateful Dead with their
organ-heavy funk, jazzy saxophone, ripping guitar and sensual vocals
while still somehow pushing their sound in such a new direction it
creates it's own category... THE NEW FUNK." From www.mamasutra.com.

Concert # 10: Green Lemon.
"Green Lemon's music is a surprising combination of influences which
washed up from the opposing coasts, and right up to their Oklahoma
doorstep. Their self-titled debut CD pin-balls between styles, such as
the new-wave electronica of "Intergalactic Intercourse" and the
atmospheric Floydscapes of "Core of Me" and "Intergalactic Cigarette" (A
percussion jam featuring Bill Stevenson of the Descendents and Black
Flag). Jambase has called Green Lemon's music "Euphoric" and "the sound
we've been waiting for". Green Lemon is equally adept at disturbing a
fan, and soothing a fan's disturbed mind." - From
www.greenlemonband.com.
Sunday, May 21 & 22 - Snowbomb Battle of the Bands FREE Spring Sundeck
Concert #12: Delta Nove.
"Jambase has named Delta Nove one of the top 10 bands to watch for 2005.
A six-piece band from Long Beach, California that has been committed to
the evolution of music since its inception. Never satisfied to lock into
one pre-conceived genre, Delta Nove constantly explores the synthesis of
sound and texture, much to the delight of audiences. Born from a blend
of Funk, Brazilian Samba, Jazz, Afro-Beat, Blues and Rock, Delta Nove
has a distinct sound that is carving out its own niche in today's music
industry. Drawing from a deep pool of musical training and diverse
instrumentation, the group fuses many styles into one funky powerhouse
that rocks the crowd." - from www.deltanove.com.
