If there is one time to visit Mammoth a year it is definitely during the annual West Coast Invitational Cinco de Mayo celebration. Wasted karaoke kicked off the parlay Thursday night at Laka Nuki and things gradually spiraled downhill from there.

Real cash money playas. This ain’t about peanuts.
An insane windy snow storm blew in cancelling the Viva la Pipa contest Friday morning until Sunday leaving everyone bored and anxious. The Electric crew staying in The Village decided a pool party was the only way to save the day so Chris Bradshaw, Max Weinberger, Lane Knack, Jamie Anderson and a small posse lounged sippin’ Budweiser while hotel management continuously hassled everyone insinuating that we were "trouble makers." Jerks.

Watch out, or I just might pull you over.
Since it was almost Cinco de Mayo Amanda Carillo from Royal Blunts and a few of us girls invited some peeps over to our crib at The Mammoth Mountain Inn for a fiesta complete with cervesas, tacos, chips, and Mexican sodas. Oh yah.

Later that eve the fiesta moved to Laka Nuki once again where everyone schmoozed and boozed the night away. The bar was packed with the who's who of snowboarding. Where else but Mammoth could you chill with Peter Line, Danny Kass, Eddie Wall, Travis Kennedy, Chad Otterstrom, Iikka Backstrom, and just about any other big name pro in the same place?

Although it was still remarkably windy and cold Saturday the sun was at least shining and everyone hit the slopes. Shredding Mammoth is like riding in a live snowboard flick and this day was no exception. The cameras were out and kids were throwing down hitting insanely huge jumps and the million jibs Mammoth has to offer. After a long day of shredding it up, relaxing for a few hours was the only option for the exciting night ahead.

Refreshed and rejuvenated everyone who's anyone in Mammoth gathered in The Village ready for the much anticipated rail jam. MYG stepped to the turntables scratching the beats and setting the mood for the peoples. Other pros throwing it down included 24-year-old, Yale Cousino, who has been killing it this year placing in practically every contest he enters. He flew his Mom Ali out from Vermont to hang with him and the "House of Dude" boys this weekend. The East Coast did not lack representation with Chas Guldemond, Chris Rotax, and Louie Vito flossing their skills. Eddie Wall would have been reppin’ too if he wasn't injured. Duh!

Although the setup was a little screwy riders pulled it together keeping the crowd hyped during the one hour jamey jam. 10 G's were on the line and that means no playing it safe. Young buck Tyler Flannigan slayed both the down and kinked rail although he almost killed himself and a few bystanders when he came flying of the wall ride and into the crowd. Luckily in was minor and he took off back up the scaffolding to shred some more. Although it seemed Keegan Valaika was having an off night rarely landing tricks he did manage to miraculously catch his Neff beanie mid-air after it flew off his head while spinning down the wall ride. The crowd went wild. He's not a pro for nothing.

In the end it was Jonas Michilot who pocketed the 10 G's, stoked to say the least. There was a little conspiracy with the voting process since the riders were somehow supposed to shred and judge the contest at the same time. Not saying Jonas shouldn't have won but there were names unaccounted for on the ballot, which had to be written in, and that's kinda crap. Anyway no one took it too personally and all the of-age (riiight!) guys and gals headed up the gondola to Canyon Lodge where Guru and Solar made the crowd bounce.
