DK on Nike, I have been living under a rock. The saddest part of this, is that Vans will probably not be making the slippers anymore. Those things are so money.
Of course, this is in addition to all the crap that comes with one of the sport's core going to the darkside.

Nike is gonna be tha banger....they actually maintained a pretty core image in skateboarding, which they are going to be running a similar sales plan in snowboarding as they did in SB and plus they dont sell out to shops, they only sell in select shops.

i just asked you if you are on the nike program, do not hate on your elders just because i will not buy product from nike. it does not mean that i do not think they will do a good job with their lines, they most likely will (especially after learning from major mistakes that they made with their acg snow program).
it is more of a personal choice for me (not bagging on you or your decision to go with them) to purchase from snowboard only companies.

First off, I am so far from core these days that it is not even funny. There is a whole heap of reasons that I won't support Nike, most not related to snowboarding in the least. Honestly I wouldn't support K2 directly that was more of a way to show how much I depise Nike. For what it is worth, K2 has been in the game from the beginning and I have not seen them run an ad with a cartoon of a six wheeled station wagon yet. Neither can be said for Niokay.
Like I said this really is a pointless argument, because it is all based on personal preference.
I will beat you to one last punch, I am a big fat hypocritical jackass, I do buy Vans and as you know they are owned by VF which is hardly core. Of course, all the people I knew at Vans have left so I guess I will just wait for the new Adidas boots.

Dudes, so true, the only thing gets me stoked these days are those twin tipped cross country skis, and of course the new Dodge mini vans.

I certainly do not deny that big N will come with one hell of a marketing campaign and throw the big bills out there to recruit a core group of riders. I am sure they will convince plenty of people that they are crazy core. If they don't put out a decent product with their means and the input from the riders they now have it would be a crime.
We can have the argument on where you draw the line on what is good for snowboarding and what is not. It will go on forever without a correct answer ever being reached. I, however, choose to draw the line with Nike. I would buy K2 or Burton before chucking any money at Nike.

i think j.p. can still hold his own. i also hate when these snowboard companies cast aside their "older" riders for the sake of buying two or three younger riders at a fraction of what they were paying the "older" rider. it is amazing, jp-like him or not-really helped to get forum and its brand image/identity out there. that being said, i guess it's business.
however, do these companies not realise that there are a lot of peeps my age (thirties) that like to see the 'really' old dudes like richards, d.d.downing, matt cummins, jamie lynn, mike ranquet, terry kidwell (props to their respective companies for taking care of them), etc. rip it up. shit this gives me hope, if i see them do it, i tell myself i can at least try it, and i am way more apt to buy product from an 'older' rider than some twelve year-old (i'd feel like a pedophile crusing around on some nine year old's 159cm pro model...call me weird, that is how it is for me.).

JP is still good!
JP still rides good! He paved the way for many kids who just ride rails today and he still knows how to ride big jumps and backcountry. I would rather watch him ride or buy his pro board than that ugly ghetto gangster wannabe Kennedy, I really don't like this guy. The Jakes have nice styles though, Blauvelt got some balls too.
