2008 Rome Madison

anyone seen/ridden the 08 madisons yet? or know where there is a picture of them? i'm trying to decide if i should get the 07s on sale....or hold out for the 08s.

Nice!

First of all, great choice on the bindings! Have you ridden the Madison's yet? If you haven't, I gaurentee you will fall in love your first run. I got my girlfriend on a pair of 07's, and she said it improved her riding so much in the little time that she had left in the season with them. The thing about Rome bindings that make them different from other companies is the way that they connect the boot to the board. The Rome binding (all models) has a system called the Underwrap Heel Cup, which actually wraps the heel cup all the way from the back of your boot to the front of the binding, give you total control and power when switching from toe-to-heelside carves, spins, butters, whatevers. It make sound complicated, but you will get on the snow and be amazed at how impressive the system is.

As far as the Madisons go, the 07's are rad as they are, and I'm sure there are a ton of good deals you can find, but new for '08 is a couple features that are worth the wait. Specific to the Madison only, the heel-wrap which I mentioned above has been slimmed down, to fit your women's specific boot better. The toe-area of the cup has also been holed up to reduce the weight of the previous Madison. A little beefier strap with ladder-garage's also helps, so if I were you, I'd hold off until August when this stuff starts hitting the shelves! However, Rome is introducing another ladies model binding called the Strut which features some of the same features as the Madison from last year...but if you have your heart set on the Madison (which I don't blame you for at all), hit it up! Lemme know if you questions, hope it helps!

Madisons

I own the 06-07 Madisons and have demo'd the 07-08 Madisons. The 07-08 are definitely a step above in my opinion...just more comfortable with good solid improvements to the binding. I still love my 06-07 but i'll probably be selling them to grab the 07-08 Madisons. Either way you are getting a solid binding.

Boots

I have madison bindings what boots would you recommend that would go well with these.

I know like if it were burton bindings i wouldn't have a problem with a fit, cuz any burton boot would fit okay.

I haven't used them yet, so I don't knwo how they are.

Any recommendations?

Boots matching bindings is co

Boots matching bindings is completely secondary (if even that) to boots fitting your feet well. Boots are the most important piece of gear you'll own - because how they fit your foot will make or break your day/season. Definitely find some boots that fit your feet, then take the best of that group and put them in the bindings at a shop to see what works the best.

Best of luck!

Pretty much anything will work...

One of the benefits of Rome bindings preceding Rome boots is they weren't designed to "work best with their own boots" Definitely companies like the big B sell the idea that only their boots work well in their own binders.

That was the genius of the conformist toe strap, that it conforms to any boot no matter how you want to ride it. (Like any "over the toe" strap, take your time to make sure it's adjusted right) This is easier with the quickstrap concept that has evolved over the years.

Buy boots because they fit and flex the way you want. Don't buy them because of your binders.

(Rome boot plug: I rode them all last season and I've been super happy in 'em)

madisons

Definitely agree with beer and 66...go get boots based on fit, not matching the brand up with the binding you want. I have yet to try on the rome boots but I know that if the fit isn't there, no matter how good the boots are...they won't work for me without proper fit.

With my madisons, I have Vans boots and atomic boots that I have used in both bindings and the fit was fine in terms of binding to boot fit.

One thing I noticed with rome bindings is make sure you get them dialed properly to your boot. These are not bindings that you take out and strap your boot in and are good to go. With all the romes i have tried,it helps to dial the bindings adjustments to match your boot. Spend the time to do that and you won't have any complaints. Those who don't take the time are the ones that don't have proper fit. With my madisons i had to adjust the ankle and toe strap and adjust the toe ramp and heel cup a little bit...just took some time but now it's dialed and perfect for my boots

toe strap

what do you think of the conformist toe strap? i am specifically looking for a toe strap binding, but i have heard mixed reviews on how well the conformist straps work and stay in place......thx.
