The Veeco secret...or hard rumor.

for the last few months volcom has been talking about purchasing a hardgoods company. hardgoods being that of a snowboard company.

here are a list of five potential companies that i think volcom should think about:

1. lib tech (sans gnu)
2. capita (artful, clever, solid product, good management, solid distribution, etc.)
3. stepchild (just the name alone makes sense for a subsidiary, that and they are a building company with upwards sales, a killer team and infamous heads behind the helms).
4.rome (if veeco goes after rome, they will have to pay big time...the rome guys did well on their s.a.t.'s unlike your stupid self).

Isn't rome already owned by a big snowboarding company.

I like Lib, perfect fit.

Lib Lubbers

I agree, but why would you wanna see them sans Gnu, LJJ? I can imagine that Lib would be supporting both of the other brands most likely if they went as a family (Lib, Gnu, BM)- but I really would hate to see Lib, Gnu & Bent Metal (even tho I'm not a fan of the newer binders) break up. Mervin originals. Strong ties w/the Volcom crew too and roots in art and music. Poiifect! ;)

I'm thinking the whole mervin

I'm thinking the whole mervin family. But then again I heard that from my "inside source" at veeco like three years ago so who knows. And Remember they already did that one off volcom board awhile back.It seems like the most natural fit considering their long relationship and shared riders over the years. We'll see.

uh

i don't think capita or stepchild would go up for sale for anyone especially when they both have team videos coming out this fall. i think child support will be a classic!

if i offered you ten million dollars for the house you currently live in...would you sell it to me?

thought so.

I've heard the same

I too have heard that Veeco has been after a brand. This came up back before Quicksilver and everyone else was snapping up companies. Gotta keep up with "the Jones's" I guess.

1. Quicksilver might be in the mood to offload Mervin, for the right price. Especially after their huge struggles with their other hard lines.
2. Capita better not sell. I am hoping that they are at least another year or two from doing the usual snow industry cash out.
3. No way I see Stepchild selling. With the big names behind this, and steamrolling along like they are, I just think those guys are having too much fun.
4. Rome... You can have 'em. I agree with LumberJack, you will have to pay a hefty price though. Those guys built up big, and fast too. They are smart, for obvious reasons, with that man behind the helm. But I never liked you guys anyway. Would make sense, especially if you could keep all the gay little emo, jean wearing Rome shredders from knowing.

5. My bonus mention. Signal. I think after the flop on his first attempt, he might be willing to take a little money and run. Signal has a nice head of steam built up these days. He might be able to sell for some cash, and residuals for 5 years or so. We all know where these are made though, so maybe it would be part of a much bigger deal.

even though signal is moving a respectable three thousand units (or around that), i don't think they stand a chance in being considered in a veeco purchase. but hey what they hell do i know.

i dont see how rome would sell for more than lib and capita. didnt the owner of rome design the custom and dominant? how much money did tech nine make for selling the toe cap patent to burton? i wonder if lib will do the same thing for mtx and bannana tech?

Wasn't Veeco trying to buy El

Wasn't Veeco trying to buy Electric too? Did that ever go down?

The telescope industry does not believe in broforms. Instead we can meet at some sketchy back alley and you can purchase inventory from the back of my car.
