I was initially looking into burton c60's, p1's or cartels but everyone kept saying to check out Union. So ive been looking and the two that stand out to me so far are either the Data's or Force both in black. Can anyone give me any feedback on which out of the two is better, why and what seperates them from the Burtons I was initially looking at?
union
at $199 for the force you wil get a shit load of features, and for the data, you will pay a little more for premium leather straps and overlays, upgraded buckles and heel cups, along with a stiffer high back.
Both models are extremely easy to custom fit and micro adjust. each baseplate size has a specific flex rate and have eva bushings (purethane in 0607) for dampening and to allow a true board flex, the list goes on and on and on. Not to mention that every pair has a lifetime warranty on the baseplate. Great customer service too.
Dig a little deeper into SNOWBOARD-mag.com and you'll find some pics of the 0708 bindings. Stay tuned for the unionbindingcompany.com site to launch.
There is a lot to point out on these suckers. Last season I noticed a lot of UNIONs in the lift lines at Northstar, Mammoth, Breck etc.....Even SNOWBOARDmag has a custom pair of UNIONs. Jesus.

POORpiss nailed it. If t
POORpiss nailed it.
If they haven't changed flex from the first season, the Datas' highbacks are only a hair stiffer than the Forces'.
I have a pair of each and they are the best bindings I've ridden yet. I'm still amazed at how responsive they are despite having a killer all-mountain freestyle flex that slays it in the park.
Hmm
So you think I would be ok with the Force?
I actually rode the force's l
I actually rode the force's last year, which I actually got from POORpiss (thanks chris!) on everything from mess-around jib sessions to throwing them on my longer stick for pow days (ok, pow DAY). Great all-around binding. The only thing is it has a softer, more flexible highback (I compensate with stiffer boots), but it's still a great binding for the money, and super solid construction...
///™ Unions all the way.
throwing my two cents in...i have the data's, and i really like them. i'll be kicking a new set soon for the 08.
and i will says this, i called those guys almost (literally) once every two weeks for new ladders, and they came withing 24 hrs via fedex...for ladders? that's customer service.
having said the above, their pieces or burly-tough and won't break down on you (like some other "b"rand's toe caps and straps cracking in the bitter cold). i tend to crank my straps so hard, that the teeth wear down more quickly on my ladders, that's all.
killer binders.

Metz
I didn't give them to you, I believe you won them in some sort of a way, i really can't remember between the wine, beers, bowling, lazer tag, and the white russians. But it was all you man. Now tell your boss to support UNION this year !

white russians are for girls (like metz).

Cleans Up Well
He wears that dress well, LJJ.. You know you love it. ;)
Pow DAY, eh Metz? You must ride Tahoe- ha. Hope it snows this year !!
RIDE's are still what I want to get, but I shall be checking out those Unions next time I'm down at the shop. POORpiss is good at what he does.. "at $1199.. oh hell yeah!.." (ching-chiing! ha)
Good review as well, LJJ.
huh ?
nice pic of rainbow falls.
..
Thanks. I can't take fotog credit, but it is a great shot of the falls.
I was assuming thruout this conversation that you were a Union rep, thus you slingin your sales knowledge of the product. You made some great points and I'm interested in checking into them now, that's all. The joke was me attempting to be amusing again- I seriously crack myself UP (hey, atleast somebody's laughing! :D)
Oh and Heeey..
You ride the Bowl too! SWEET.
We should ride out some time. ;)
yes, he is
POORpiss is the Union rep in NorCal (and capita, deelux, coal, etc) he's also a super radical broham..... but despite the bias, i still think he's right with his positive review of the binders...
also, why does every post that I comment on end up being some sort of uneccesary attack on my sexual orientation, choice of dress, or fondness for farm animals?
thanks Tina, for always sticking up for me.....
now, if you will excuse me, I must adjust my makeup, hike up my hose, and go ride a goat....
ewwwwwww
also, Chris, do we get to go bowling again this year?
bowling ?
not sure.

///™ wow, that's a lot...

Force
yeah, fo' sho'
$199, are ya outta to mind ?
Yes!
The Force. I love 'em. You will too.
toe straps
i was looking at the forces, and am wondering if the toe strap works well for wearing it over the end of your boot like a cap strap? it looked a little flat??? any info?
yep
it works great, i wear mine over my toes, never had them slip off they sit on there sooooo nice. the plastic in the inside of the strap has a big oval shaped hole in it that locks on to the toe of your boot really well without any pressure points or anything, they are sick bindings. buy em, you wont be dissapointed
good stuff
thanks buddy, thats the info i needed. getting some force's in the orange.
Union
Union bindings are the best around, I've got some airblasters on the way. I've ridden a couple of different pairs and they don't really compare with anything else I've ever ridden, except maybe Burton P1s. they fit like a glove, great ratchets, quality baseplate material. You really can't go wrong with them.
How are they so good, They ha
How are they so good, They have been around for what 4 years. I dont think that they can be that good. I just think they are a trend and they cant even be that good. They dont even look that comfy and responsive. They are just a trend
not a trend
at all. they really are that good. the company has only been around for 4 years but the people behind the company have many more years than that. they are very comfortable and responsive. you really need to try them.
It appears you're calling shi
It appears you're calling shit out on stuff you've never tried. You think they blow because "they don't look responsive", etc.? WTF? How does a binding "look responsive"? You're kidding, right? Give 'em a try, and you'll see. Unions are solid. Best binders I've ridden yet.
Well...
You know that huge binding company called Drake? The guys (Martino Fumagalli and George Kleckner) who ran Drake for years and years now run and own Union. Better add something like a 1 in front of that 4 years of experience. They took their knowledge from Drake, re-tooled their molds the way they wanted to re-design their bindings, and voila! Union.
you dont even know
you obviously dont know your bindings, it all right we forgive you.
(.)(.)
they are solid binders but the screws come loose continously no matter how much you tighten them (not the baseplates though, the straps is what i'm talking about) so make sure you check them often (as ina couple times/day)
Same thing with Ride bindings
Same thing with Ride bindings from my experience, the toe strap bolts need to be tightened often, I just added more loctite and see if it helps.
Dan Gerous
downlow on the lowdowns?
whats the deal with the lowdown binders???? whats the point of the lowbacks? it looks like everyone is lovin the forces... are they good for freestyle?

To be honest, I prefer the first Burtons, they're nicer.
