I went to work yesterday morning, expecting more of the same (Invoices, disgruntled employees, too much shipment with not enough floor space to put it out, etc) When all of a sudden I saw one special box from our video distributor... Holy Jeez! Like a kid at christmas, I tore into the box, filled with wonderment and awe... Ladies and gentlemen, the first shipment of snowboard videos (ok, one single video) came in! So, without further adeiu (sp?), here goes my thoughts on Think Thanks' new 08 production, Thanks Brain!

Well, Taylor knows how any new snowboard video turns me into a 12 year old child. I was literally bounding through the door coming home from work. Although she does not share quite the level of enthusiasm as I have (especially after a full day of work), she was quite willing to spend our dinnertime in the living room, with me perched on the edge of the couch, taking big bites of spagetti in between pressing the rewind button and exclaiming "Honey, did you see that??? Switch 180 nose bonk late 900 out!!!!" She was a good sport....
yummy. spagetti and meat sauce, salad, fresh bread, and a nice bottle of red wine... i'm so classy
I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with the movie. Think Thank always adds a little something different, and this year's showing was no different. From an imaginative sponsor sequence, to the unorthadox transition between rider's parts, Thanks Brain! sets itself apart from the traditional cookie-cutter like videos that so often seem to saturate the market. I always seem to find myself drawn to movies, and riders, slightly off the mainstream radar. It's usually the younger, hungrier riders, without the burden of sponsor responsibilities, who seem to be having a much better time in their parts.
Some of the highlights for me were Scott Stevens's swesome openeer. With an energy and imagination that really sets the tone for the rest of the movie, Scott's part got me stoked from the get-go. Gus Engle, who I havent seem much of before, impressed me, and showed that he's more than just a dirty mustache... Matt Edgers blows through some Pacific Northwest pow, and Johnny Miller, Pat Milbery, and Andre Spinelli all showed some impressive jib skills. Unfortunately, it was midway through Johnny Miller's part when Sake (my dog) decided she wasnt getting enough attention, and decided to knock over my wine glass into my lap.... bad dog!
she could care less, as long as she's being petted.
I don't want to spoil the video, as I think videos (especially this early in the season) should be experienced, pored over, critiqued, and re-watched... I will say, though, that the ender was well deserved....
In a blatant rip off of LumberJackJibber's rating system, I give Thanks Brain! a bottle of Cab, Two Spagetti Dinners, a pair of stained shorts, and one disgruntled puppy....
If that rating system makes no sense...
The Video was good. Thumbs up!
