ya thats a good look, dudes checking out other dudes because the'r pants are so tight that they look like chicks. or maybe someone should start a style where matching is so overrated that they need to NOT match...to match. you follow me? or how about just start throwing shit on themselves like scarves, multiple hats, tease your hair, throw some makeup on, wear tight ass pants and a jersey, then just to mix it up start taking your feet out of your binding to "start a revolution"....or maybe you should just snowboard and remember that you learned in a jump suit, sorrells, and a hat your gramma made for you for your 6th birthday and you were so stoked on riding that you didnt care that you didnt have fishnets on the outside of your hempseed jacket and matching gloves....
It says on page 109 of September's Transworld that Section pants will be available in "team size" this year (2" extra length). Is this only for the XXL's or will it be an option for all sizes? The MFM syndicates in L were the first non-XL snowboard pant I've ever bought but I'd love a few more inches in length. Will team size pants be hard to find? thanks!
yeah, because its awsome to see rich white kids with a $500 board, $200 bindings, $250 boots walk around like there gangsters. if only kids knew how stupid they look. i mean seriously how many gangters snowboard?
I but theres about the same amount of gangstas who snowboard as there are legit rock & rollers. goes both ways. I don't like this argument at all. The style looks good, and so do tight pants. Just wear it well. How many gangsters snowboard, please. Don't call out a whole style of snowboarding, even if can be hypocrtitcal. Surely most kids runnin tight pants aren't in indie/punk/rock bands. Guess they shouldn't wear tight pants. What kind of pants should we wear then? I vote no pants. And crazy hats.
yes, but i am actually envolved in a music scene. im friends with bands and i go to shows. i like good hip hop but im not going to act like im a part of the culture. to me its just riping of the hip hop culture. lets drop these kids off with xxl t-shirts and huge, skull candy ear phones in the ghetto and see what happends.
You're being a little too one sided. Hip hop came from Brooklyn, yeah. But that doesn't mean that people that don't live in NYC can't appreciate it.
If you're going to say that people shouldn't wear something snowboarding, then you're lame. It's fucking snowboarding. I hate it when kids that rock hip hop style stuff say that they hate tight pants. Who cares?
People stare funny at my best friend and I on the lift because I wear XXL Section pants and a 4XL Yankees baseball jacket and he wears acid washed girls' jeans and a leather jacket. We both go to local shows and both bump hip hop. Because we're both OPEN MINDED. That's what snowboarding is about.
im not trying to tell you to not wear something. i just think it looks funny to dress up like a "thug" while having a thousand dollor setup and paying 70 bucks for a lift ticket. i like krs one and public enemy but that dosent mean im going to act like i know what its like to grow up in the hood.
That's the idea. It looks funny. So does wearing skin tight jeans and scarves and leather jackets. So does wearing rainbow colored airblaster outerwear. That's snowboarding. Wake up.
Taking snowboarding seriously is the lamest thing about snowboarding.
and how exactly do they act like they are part of the culture, are the rollin dice in the chalet? hustlin people on the slopes? doing some ride by shootings?
the way they talk, the way they act. not all people in the hip hop culture roll dice and shoot people. but alot of snowboarders do seem to imitate the thuggish rappers.
If you're hating on the guys from the technine videos...
have you ever met them? You have to remember that those videos are ads. They are selling an image. On and off camera are totally different things.
Plus, I think you're caring about the wrong thing here. Who gives a fuck? It's awesome that you're so self righteous and all, but I don't think you understand the mindset.
no, i have never met them. but thats the point, there selling an image i find very annoying. its not that i hate hip hop because i dont. i hate how they portray hip hop, its just ignorant. thats just my opinion. you can have yours i can have mine.
Don't hate them. Hate Technine, Section and really MFM for that image. Although, Technine is trying to change that now. Don't ask me why. These are just kids out having fun. It sounds like you take everything so fucking seriously you don't know what that is. Maybe snowboarding is real serious in Georgia, I don't know.
i would like you to see the hill we have in georgia and see how happy you would be. actually it closed down so we have no mountain. but north carolina and west viginia have solid mountains. snowshoe is actually owned buy intrawest. and probly recieves more snow than alot of places up north. i said i hated section outerwear, thats how this conversation started.
so youd rather kids dress like theyre dirt poor rockers, who woke up from the pile of puke they left in the gutter that morning to go shred with the same $70 ticket and $1000 set-up? that seems even more backwards to me, cause at least a lot of rappers act like they are mad rich, how many times did joey ramone say that he was gonna "make it rain" or the like
did i ever say i wanted kids to dress like their dirt poor rockers? no i didnt. i never evan implied somethig like that. be yourself. your not a gangster and your not from the hood. so dont act like one.
you're stupid. really? you think every kid out there all flossed up hella G'fresh sets the standard for that look?? how many kids ripping the park do you see on 1,000 burton kits? yo ride you fairy
SECTION ARE NO MORE BUT THE BRAND COULD RISE FROM THE ASHES
James@Source, 10 Aug 2007
Source received a letter from Section Inc. this week, with not good news. It appears that the tough season is having effect and Section will be closing for business.
The management of Section Inc. intends to wind down the affairs of the Company over the coming months. Management estimates that the current amount of secured debt owed to the Bank is well in excess of the net realizable value of the Company's assets and as a result there will be no residual asset value available for distribution to any of the Company's unsecured creditors.
With respect to any and all outstanding Section Inc. purchase orders, please be advised that all such orders that you may have received in the past from Section, Inc. are hereby cancelled.
Section Inc, however, has transferred all of its customer files to Mr. John Walbrecht, Mr. Troy Bush and Mr. Trent Bush. You may be contacted by the Transferees on their own behalf some time in the future as they may have an interest in trying to continue the branded Section business under a separate entity. As a consequence, therefore, any future dealings that you may have with the Transferees will be separate and distinct from your past dealing with Section, Inc.
We sincerely regret the Company's current financial difficulties, we thank you for your past support and we wish you the best in the future.
Sorry the thread at the bottom is getting pinched, moved up here.
As someone who seems to try awfully hard to project an air of enlightenment, you are putting forth a phenomenally ignorant argument.
While I understand that what you are saying is based upon a personal opinion, given your past arguments it is difficult to not attack this one.
As far as I can tell, you are an isolationist both nationally and culturally. You are against international trade and now you are stating that unless you are fully immersed in a culture you should not emulate it in any manner. With your logic, absolutely no musical progression would have occurred in the 20th century and snowboarding and skateboarding would not exist. Some kid in the Midwest shouldn't be able to wear Quiksilver because he has never been surfing.
This is asinine. Hip hop has been fused into snowboarding from the beginning, as has punk. They share a sense of rebellion against the status quo. I agree that people take it over the top without a full respect or knowledge of the culture. But, when you start to limit choices and influences, you stifle progression and open dangerous doors to censorship. As someone who lists Karl Marx, Darwin, and Malcolm X as influences, I would think you would have more sense than to continue this argument.
You don't like Section, you don't like the gangster look, leave it at that, stop telling people what cultures they can be influenced by.
i dont like the gangster look. am i not allowed to have my own opinion? isnt ths a forum for peoples opinions? it seems to me that people on this site hate people with different opinions. i never said for people to stop wearing the gear. personaly, i find the look retarted. its not evan about the clothes realy. its more how kids act. 16 year old kids from the suburbs acting like their from comton is annoying. im not limiting choice or censoring anyone and im not telling anyone what to wear.
"but its not funny when kids try to act like there part of the culture."
"your not a gangster and your not from the hood. so dont act like one."
You can state your opinion on clothes all day, I really don't care. When you bring ignorant statements like the above, you are going to get called out.
Please stop before you get hurt.
When you get done reading your collection of Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky, here are two more wonderful books for you; The Dictionary and "Eats, Shoots & Leaves". The first will help with spelling and the second will help with those pesky commas, apostrophes, and the difference between their, there, and they're.
