Skate Banana Help!

My girlfriend is looking to buy a new snowboard for this season. She is looking for a good all around board that will rip anything. She is really interested in the Lib Tech Skate Banana. She is 5'2" and weights about 125 lbs. She was looking at the 152 cm size.

My question is: Would this be a good board for her? Is it too big?

Thanks for your Help!

Thanks for your help. Got her going in a different direction now. She really likes the Rome Blue, so I think she might go that route.

Stoked to hear that! It should be a killer stick for her, especialy since she digs freeriding.

Definitely far too big. The Box Scratcher (with Banana Tech) would be a great length, but she'll really struggle with the men's medium-wide waist on it.

Get her a Rome Vinyl 146. My wife has a 144 and it slays everywhere and is a fun, easy, forgiving ride. Can't go wrong.

even if she is into more free

even if she is into more freeriding?? She was looking for a board with the banana technology.. her last board was a burton custom 148. i was just wondering b/c from what i have read, the banana boards turn/respond quicker than other boards - so i thought a little longer board wouldnt make a real big difference

Quicker turning will probably

Quicker turning will probably come easier (and quicker) on a shorter board actually, but width (and sidecut) will have far more impact on that than length, and the mid-wide width of a Banana would definitely make turning feel more like she was driving a schoolbus versus turning on a woman's specific snowboard.

The Vinyl is an all-mountain freestyle stick. It slays anywhere on the mountain but will still hold its own in the park. If she doesn't need something as forgiving though and if she is an aggressive rider, look at the Rome Blue instead, which is an all-mountain/freeride machine. The 147 Blue would work well for her if she is an aggressive freerider and doesn't mind a stiffer board. More narrow waist widths will help with more responsive turning. That Custom has a 244mm waist width. If she's 5'2", I'm guessing she wears size 7's or 7.5's. That's a big waist width for a women's size 7. The Blue 147cm has a 237mm waist. It's not a world of difference, but it's definitely noticeable and has an effect on responsiveness. (The Vinyl 146cm has a 240mm waist, still an improvement.)

Proper technique and/or lessons will help the most though. I don't mean to sound demeaning, but it's amazing what sound technique will do for riding.

how about the lib tech TRS with banana?

hi there, I am thinking of getting the banana too, I am 5'2 and 110 pounds.
and i am thinking about the Lib tech TRS 148 with 23.5 waist which i thought is the best size i have seen with banana for small girls

anyone has any thoughts on this?

That board would be too big for your weight. This fall, Gnu has two women's boards coming out with Banana-Traction - The B-Street (true twin park stick) and the B-Pro (high-end, women's flagship board). My wife demoed the former and loved it, and the latter has already won awards in next season's mags' board tests (not officially yet - and for whatever it's worth).

Definitely hold off for one of those two.
