Welcome to Timberline Lodge.

Words: Tawnya Schultz

Snowboarders recognize Mount Hood’s Timberline Resort as the ultimate summer haven. Shreds from around the world travel in droves yearly to fill their winter blues appetite. Most of these peeps are probably unaware of the historic landmark they walk by on their way to the chairlift everyday. From the outside it simply resembles a rustic hotel but take a few steps towards the entry way of the Timberline Lodge and you will immediately recognize its timeless elegance.

It stands as a monument handcrafted during a period when the United States was seemingly crumbling; the Great Depression. President Roosevelt helped employ more than 500 people and in 1937 gave the lodge as a gift dedicated to craftsmanship. Today Timberline Lodge enamors a living memoir chiseled, carved, mosaicked, and built piece by piece for visitors to enjoy. Vacation in one of their unique rooms or drop by for a day to take in the views and explore. Who would have thought…there’s more to Timberline than just year round slopes. I mean who doesn’t want to check out a spot where scenes from The Shining were filmed? It’s a beautiful location and a must see so if you happen to be in the area snowboarding or just passing through check out the majesty that is Timberline Lodge.
