So why doesn't Snowboard Mag or another mag start having its own good wood issue. Because we all know that Transgenders good wood is a crock of shit. I know that allot of those boards are super sick but they don't even have blank decks anymore. How about getting 10-20 people and about 300 blank decks and giving every Company out there a equal opportunity to prove there boards are sick. I know I would pay allot more $$ for a mag that had some solid reviews on boards from not only the industry's top guys but from the underdogs too.
Exactly..
My man, or woman if you might be, you couldn't be more dead on with this one. The entire good wood thing is a sham. It's a total popularity contest and complete joke. They only accept certain decks, which seem to match advertisers perfectly, and as you mentioned, don't hide graphics or anything. Now I understand thye importance of supporting your advertisers, but it's still a joke. Shouldn't little companies have a shot at seeing their product stack up against the big boys? You can't tell me that some deck from Lucid Notion, Dinos, etc. doesn't have the chance to kick the shit outta the best deck a Rome, Burton, etc. has to offer.
It is time for someone to make this legit. From Black Snow to Burton, let's give 'em all a shot.
(.)(.)
there is no way to make it legit, all it is what board THISE guys (the testers) LIKED on THAT day. just because they like it does it mean i will like it?
and why do we need this anyway? its the indian, not the arrow. if you buy the top rated good wood board you will still suck if you suck.
awesome-ly put phat canuck
oh i heard this the other day: canada is like a loft apartment over, ,like ,a really happinin' place -robin williams thought that was funny.
hmmmmm
Id take that loft over the "happinin" place thats infested with cockroaches and mould and crowded, anyday. hahaha that loft is alot nicer
for shore. but even so, it wo
for shore. but even so, it would still be hard to make an accurate board test. i mean if a tester is used to riding a certain type of board, he/she will probably pick a board that rides similar to that, regardless if it is the "best" or not.
Thats why you would have abo
Thats why you would have about 20 riders or so because every rider has a different weight and riding style from pipe to rails. Read the bio on the riders that have about the same riding style and weight as you, then see what kind of feed back they can give. Even if they don't have the same weight as you I'm sure they can still give some good feed back on the board. And given the opportunity to test that many sick or unsick boards I'm sure allot of the riders might change there mind on what they think is rad about a board. If I had the chance or money I would be stoked to demo a couple hundred boards and I would definitely come out of that with a different perspective on snowboards and what works best for me. A couple years ago I found the magic board that worked for me that season and man I felt lucky, it made all the difference in the world.
tests are tests
and you should read them and keep it in mind but don't straight up copy it. it's kinda funny cause in some tests some decks score good and in another test those exact same decks suck. Also these tests are all done different. Goodwood judges a board on 1 run through the park ! Other tests have the boards on the slope for few hours... It's about the riders, weather, park etc etc that makes you feel comfy on a deck. I say before you end up buying try to ride it yourself.
peace
Thats definitely the best way
Thats definitely the best way. I wish my demo day was bigger and it wasn't the same old shit. Thats why I'm thinking of getting in to it my self and getting my own board press. Its kinda like surfing now and who all the hometown shapers making sick handmade boards. Anybody has the power to make a good board now days in the snowboard industry . And I'm sure much of youguys are sick of the big name cocky ass reps that come to your local demo and act like there god sent. And to top if off allot of them don't even snowboard that well ether, at least here on the East coast.
