This week on FUEL TV’s The Weekly Update with Boost Mobile, we bring you complete highlights from the Rockstar WWA Wakeboard World Championships in Reno , Nevada . In the wakeboard finals Philip Soven caps off the best year of his pro career by taking the gold, JD Webb takes silver and defending champion Rusty Malinoski settles for bronze. In the women’s wakeboarding all eyes were on Dallas Friday but Amber Wing clenches the gold with a solid second run leaving Friday with the silver and Nicola Butler with the bronze. In the wakeskate finals, Reed Hansen takes the world title.
In skateboarding news, the Red Bull Manny Mania hits in New York City with a one-of-a-kind skate contest that showcases the best on two wheels. Battling each other and the summer heat in the 12-minute-final, Ronnie Creager takes first, Brandon Biebel takes second and third place goes to Joey Brezinski.
Also in skating we’ve got coverage from the Oregon Trifecta’s first event, The Golden Otter in Lincoln City . The three-day contest tour features the best bowl skaters on the planet. Last year’s defending Golden Otter champion Rune Glifberg takes another concrete victory, with Benji Galloway coming in second and Mark Scott in third.
In surf news we’re taking you to the Rip Curl Gromsearch in Santa Cruz . San Diego ’s Dominic Dipietro takes first. Ford Archibold takes second and Kyle Arleck places third.
In BMX news we’ve got coverage from the Steven Murray Jam. BMX riders continue to rally around Stephen Murray who broke his neck during the dirt finals at the first stop of the Dew Tour in Baltimore . Since the accident, riders have banded together to raise money for Murray’s family and their mounting medical bills.
In the Weekly Update One-on-One, professional vert skater Pierre-Luc Gagnon talks about how he started skateboarding and what it takes to stay on top.
