Burlington, VT and Avoriaz, France- September 4, 2007 - Burton Snowboards and Avoriaz Resort today announced the opening of The Stash®, a completely different kind of run that adds a new dimension to snowboarding. Scheduled to open in January of 2008, The Stash at Avoriaz will be the first snowboard run of its kind in Europe. With a vertical rise of over 1,500 feet and almost a mile in length, The Stash at Avoriaz will be an all-mountain dream come true for riders looking to unleash their creativity on the ultimate freestyle terrain. The Stash concept was developed by Jake Burton and professional Burton team riders to create a unique run where riders can have fun progressing their all-mountain freestyle skills. Designed with intermediate to advanced riders in mind, The Stash is loaded with hidden features waiting to be discovered including pillow lines, road gaps, wall rides, log jibs, cliff drops, tree rides and a one-of-a-kind tree house obstacle. An all-natural environment, The Stash uses no metal or plastics to create obstacles, only wood, trees, dirt and rocks. Even the signs that direct riders to The Stash are carved out of wood by world-renowned chain saw artist, Bob King, and are designed to be bonked and jibbed. “Our team riders are stoked on The Stash because you have to ride it multiple times to find all the hidden features and lines,” says Jeff Boliba, Global Resort Director at Burton. “The run continues to get better as you connect hits and throw in freestyle moves on different natural features like jibs and road jumps. Avoriaz is an amazing mountain and now with The Stash Run, it’s all time!” “The Stash Run at Northstar-at-Tahoe is for sure one of the most fun runs I have ever ridden,” says Burton team rider, Mikkel Bang. “You can get so creative on the logs, wooden rails, wooden rainbow rails, cliffs, you name it. It’s like going through the woods and finding natural rails. It's sick!” The Stash is a result of a two-year long collaboration between Burton and Avoriaz Resort. Burton selected Avoriaz to host the first Stash run in Europe because of their dedication to freestyle snowboarding and the strength of their park crew, which is one of the best in Europe. The Avoriaz park crew and Burton team riders worked together to design the run and lay out features to create a flow where riders can link tricks feature-to-feature. “For me personally, I look forward to riding The Stash and pushing my skills so that I can really progress,” says Jean Noël Calvet of Avoriaz Resort. “It will be amazing to try and link different tricks together on natural features. And like Jake’s original idea, it’s going to be great taking incredible runs with my friends.” To get a feel for what The Stash is all about check out www.thestash.com to see videos and photos of the first Stash run at Northstar-at-Tahoe. Fuck you guys.
"The Stash concept was developed by Jake Burton and professional Burton team riders..."
Fuck you all at Burton-you didn't "develop" shit. As usual you saw what was being done in the backwoods (at resorts and non-resort areas and decided to whore it out for the masses, re-package it and tell everyone about these great new terrain features that you-Burton-"developed".
"Even the signs that direct riders to The Stash are carved out of wood by world-renowned chain saw artist, Bob King, and are designed to be bonked and jibbed."-Lame as hell...world-renowned.
I hate Burton-fucking thieves in so many ways. You guys are the Ford Focus of snowboarding.

///™ Yes and no...
there is no doubt, burton did not 'develop' shit when comes to this type of riding.
burton can credit some of their early colorado shreds, like j2 and stevie 'atlas' alters (along with a host of non-burton shreds; the entire solid crew, goulet, merriman, etc.) for bringing forth and introducing log riding to the magazines and videos, but i agree with you that burton has 'just' introduced log jibs to the masses-and that's cool...whatever.
i actually think the stash looks fun to shred and would like to tap the one at northstar. i really don't like hitting parks anymore, i get hurt all the time, and they don't carry that amp for me, like they once did (call it age).
i much prefer aspects like natural halfpipes, snake runs, big rainbows, stumps, etc. i relate to these features much more than a seventy foot booter.
check some of the videos:

and just to close out-there is nothing better than having your own stick line with a hut or cabin to chill at (or tree house-werd).

Yes, I agree....

The Stash...
Bunyan I can see your point- Yeah, sure Burton gets to attach their name to it and make a bunch of claims. But the bottom line is that they are helping bring something most kids don't have access to. In the end it's a good thing. And if it inspires some young shred to go out and build his own secret run so be it.
The stash is sick, I was superbummed we didn't have enough snow to really take advantage of it for most of the season... it was fun when it WAS open.
I live less than 10 minutes from Northstar- let me know when you come out and I'll give you a personal tour Stash tour.
If you ask real nice I might even let you take advantage of the spare bed/couches/floor space in my place(assuming you bring friends).

that would be way cool-thanks. we maybe looking out a house to buy out that way in the spring...
if i make it out there i have a place to stay at the resort (or so i think). regardless, i'll take you up on your tour guide offer.
beers and sushi on me, if i make it out there.

Word...
I've got season passes to Northstar, Sierra, Squaw and Boreal, let me know and we'll hit the fun spots.
I do not agree with you , I
I do not agree with you , I think Burton develop.Do you have somethink to say to prove me ?

This is funny . . . all they have done is rename the exsisting natural park, which was sick anyway . . . Portes de Soleil fucking rocks.
Portes de Soleil
That is my dream resort destination.

That place is sick, great group of local riders as well. When I was there the park had a sick line with a small step-up followed by a true table that was ultra lofty with a near vert take-off followed by a really well maintained hip. They were placed such that it wasn't just a straight run, you actually had to turn and choose your next hit, go figure.

i still cannot believe of all places, stowe (burton's home mountain) does not have one of these...and utah. shit, hit me up burton-i hand cut all my log slides from fallen timber-no chainsaw needed.
