video cameras

hey guys im in school and pretty bored so...

i am lookin to buy a new video camera and i found a decent 3ccd for $450 but has no headphone or mic jack. i asked my video teacher what he thought and he said if i wanted to use the camera for just snowboarding it would be fine but he said if i wanted to use it for his class it wouldnt work well being that it doesnt have the two mic/headphone jacks. he has other cameras available for school use but if im goin to buy one i might as well buy one i can use for everything, mostly for snowboarding though.

thanks in advance

Some camcorders have a single, large CCD that rivals the performance of a 3-chip, so don't let the 3CCD feature limit you.

Your question might be better served on a camcorder web site. I've had good luck with http://www.camcorderinfo.com

Good luck, and make sure to tell us what you finally pick up.

thanks

haha thanks sorry if this post bugs any of you but i was super bored in class today

my video teacher didnt really help much either, he said hed rather see me go for a hard drive camera vs mini dv but i was thinkin mini dv would be better for filming riding. he didnt really mention any other cameras either.

Careful with the HDD cameras. Most of them have an internal accelerometer embedded in the electronics. If the sensor "feels" it's falling, then it shuts off your camera to prevent data loss on impact. The problem is, if you do any follow-cam shots off of jumps, there's a good chance it's going to turn off while you're in the air.

yea that deffenitely sucks, i

yea that deffenitely sucks, im sure im gonna stick with mini dv, anybody have luck with the sony handicams? or ive heard things about the canon opturas, not sure what theyre like though.
