Mack Dawg is the most recognized shred production company period. The boys have been in the biz more years than anyone else can claim and each season they are expected to produce a montage that surpasses the year prior. How is this possible with so much pressure you ask? It’s simple…if you’re MDP.
Combine the most advanced technology on the market- we’re talking the Hollywood feature film kind; the big shots of the snowboard world- we’re talking Jeremy Jones, Jussi, Shaun White, DCP, and every other rider a regular pro strives to become; oh and of course plenty of mucho deniro for travel, heli’s, and to shut down mountains whenever they need to “get the shot”and wha laa; magic is made. MDP once again one up’s themselves in “Picture This.” Where oh well shall I even begin…hmm how bout the beginning. Read on for the video lowdown.

Aaron Biittner and Seth Huot actin’ a fool.
Video Type: A perfect combination of backcountry, natural features, park, and street.
Fun Features: There are many good videos that are entertaining- don’t get me wrong- but what ultimately makes a film great is when there’s recognizable progression from the previous year. It just gives that cherry on top feeling if you know what I mean. The bar is definitely raised in “Picture This.” From wall to wall transfers, one footed kick out backside 180’s over a 40 foot jump, to steep as hell frontside 270’s gap to down ledge stompers, this flick is packed full of creativity.

Seth Huot. Wall to wall transfer at Northstar.
Notable Riders: Um all of em’. Everyone proves in their own stylie way why they were chosen to film for MDP. Willie Yli-Luoma shows off at an epic night session and has one of the most beautiful AK lines I’ve ever seen.
Darrell Mathes steps it up with the cleanest 50/50 tail and nose slides. Not to mention his abilities on concrete walls of death. (As also captured on the pages of Snowboard Mag’s October issue).
Then there’s Shaun White and Kevin Pearce’s part. It’s basically just them at a Northstar half pipe night shoot flying over each other, spinning ridiculously enormous, and stomping as if they’re super heroes. Well…

Concentration. Heikki and Eero.
Eero Ettala and Heikki Sorsa have the best-rounded sections though. What do they feed those boys in Europe to make them grow balls like that? They could be billionaires if they sold it in the states. All I can say is Heikki can stomp bigger tricks one footed than most kids can with both feet strapped. And Eero; well let’s just say his level of riding is incomprehensible for even us industry fools to relate. I don’t get it.
Expect nothing but the best from Jussi Oksanen, Jeremy Jones, Seth Huot, Aaron Biitner and the rest of them crazy boys.

Heli wonderland.
Why You Should Cop It: It’s an automatic classic because it’s MDP and everyone’s going to see it but you so be a follower and jump off the mountain too. Not to mention there’s a surprise ending with a very special guest pro shred. I’m not telling.
Why It Could be Better: Andreas Wiig, DCP, and a few others only have a handful of shots. They’re sick obviously but wish there was more. I don’t fully understand the intro but it’s funny and looks like you’re watching an actual film. And the credits are pretty random but hey it’s the MDP style.

Hungry boys. Darrell Mathes and J.J.
Locations: Salt Lake City and all over Utah, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Bear Mountain , Alpine Meadows , Mt. Hood , Snoqualmie , B.C., Finland, and many more locales.
Music Steez: The musical mix is eclectic from mellow melodies to rocking tracks strategically combined to tell a story and mesh with the rider’s personalities. The entire soundtrack is inspiring and that overall is most important.

The crew hard at work.
Filming/Editing: The filming is on point with dual cameras on practically every shot and swing wire cams even in the backcountry. It’s cool how the filming follows the rider and just glides through the landing. It’s seriously Hollywood. The colors are extremely vibrant and capture all the elements within the shot. As for the editing it’s slow paced and matches the music and riding perfectly. Beautiful.
Length: 35 minutes + bonus.
Rating: ****1/2 out of five stars.

Willie Yli-Luoma has other skills on snow besides snowboarding.
Price: $29.95 at your local shop. Check out Ally Distribution for shop locations and Mack Dawg Productions for more info.

Just do it.
good to the last drop
Picture This is one of the cleanest videos to date by the MDP crew. There wasn't as "much" backcountry kicker action as some had hoped for, but Jussi, Heikki, Andreas and some others have some gnarly Alaska copter cam kicker shots. The soundtrack is easy on the ears and the cutting room floor bonus footage is full of good stuff. JP Walker has 2 urban ender shots that you've probably never even thought of before. Seth has the opener and it's probably the best part in the movie.

In related, but unrelated news, you can download this (Special Blend) video for free. It may not be as long, or nearly as great as Picture This, but it is, well, it is free. And it was filmed in high definition, but you probably won't be able to tell that from a FREE download.
