snowboarding in.... shorts?

why does every snowboard video game have some goon shredding in shorts... is it just me or does anyone else think this looks ridiculous and is extremely stupid?

it's like...

Snowboarding in shorts is like snowboarding shirtless at Mt Hood in the summer. You know their idiots, they don't realize it until they fall giving them mad snowburn. The shorts just give you really weird tan lines...kind of like old men and sock tan lines.

they are pretty stupid but they beat daydreaming about snowboarding
