Beaver Creek, Colo., Nov. 22, 2007—Beaver Creek will introduce a new gondola designed for kids when the resort opens for the 2007-2008 winter season Friday, Nov. 23 at 9 a.m. The resort will offer skiing and snowboarding on the beginner Haymeadow run served by the new Buckaroo Express Gondola and the intermediate Latigo trail served by the Centennial Express Lift. Lift tickets on opening day are $59 for adults, $49 for seniors and $39 for children 12 and under.
“Our snowmaking and grooming crews are taking advantage of both the recent cold temperatures and natural snowfall to provide a good snow surface over the holiday weekend,” said John Garnsey, chief operating officer for Beaver Creek.
The Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School will open for the winter season Friday with private and group instruction offered for kids and adults. The mountaintop Spruce Saddle Lodge will be open for lunch.
This season, children and parents will find an improved beginner experience with the addition of the Buckaroo Express Gondola. The gondola is 1,671 feet in length with 10 towers and a ride time of 3.75 minutes. It replaces the Haymeadow Lift and can carry 1,665 people per hour.
“Kids learning to ski and snowboard will find a customized and more comfortable mountain experience with the new Buckaroo gondola,” said Pete Sonntag, director of the Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School.
The resort celebrates the holiday season with the 27th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Gingerbread House Competition Nov. 23. Complimentary ice skating is offered through Nov. 25. The resort is preparing to host the world’s fastest skiers at the Charles Schwab Birds of Prey World Cup Nov. 29-Dec. 2. Guests visiting Beaver Creek can park for free in the parking lots along Highway 6 in Avon and ride a shuttle to the village. Beaver Creek Village paid parking will begin on Friday.
Guests can book two nights of lodging and two days of skiing and get a third night and third day free starting from $370 per person in a two-bedroom condominium with quad occupancy Nov. 24-Dec. 18.
