Opening Day at The Canyons
Words: Cooper Hoffmeister / Photos: Bob Plumb Finally we’re able to ride in Utah. The snow hasn’t truly graced us yet but The Canyons made great efforts and opened this past weekend. We rolled up to see the scoop, and from the bottom it didn’t look good. We got on the gondola and traveled over a ton of bare ground, but at the top we were pleased to find the ground covered in man made whiteness.
From there we hopped on The Saddleback lift where we began to see the run, a white snake winding through the wooded forest. We were crewed up and ready for winter riding to start.
Although there was only one run, we got a picnic table set up and had one of the most fun days ever. We’re so stoke to finally be shredding again. Hopefully the snow gods will grace us with tons of snow to come and the next post will be with us neck deep in pow.

Boreal is pretty fun right now and Northstar isn't too bad either, get ahold of me when you guys come up from the big city...Tomorrow.Never.Comes@hotmail.com, I have weekends off and don't work until 3:30 Monday through Thursdays. Lets shred...

When I left Boreal to come to work today they had finished changing around the left park run- they moved the boxes and rails around, changed the jump a tad and put in one of the staircases!

not just any ol' staircase....
but the signature "SNOWBOARD-MAG" staircase from JPI3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and we have enough snow for 2 jumps and hopefully a few more by the weekend. snowmaking....aint it wonderful!

we are opening to the top tom
we are opening to the top tomorrow (thursday)with a late day opening of the accelatron. depending on tonights snowmaking we will add jibs going to the top. what I'm really looking toward however is getting the jump line going in the lower night park and that can only happen when the inrun from the upper mtn opens up. oh, by the way....guns are headed to the stuntditch by the weekend!!!!

I still have an extra room for you to crash in when you're ready to come back. LOTS more room than the place on South Shore so bring Flocco, Millsaps and the crew!
