Sidewall seperating, fixable?

Found some terra firma jumping off a small cliff on Snowmass this past weekend. Took out a coreshot right on the edge of the board. You can see the cleaved metal of the edge and the core of the board:

Thats a relatively easy fix, but looking down the sidewall I can see the edge is compressed and there is some space between the edge and the abs sidewall.

If I flex the board the edge seperates even further.

Is it fixable, should I even care? Its a Rome Graft 157, my everyday board.

From your pictures

Yo-Tindy:

From the looks of your pictures, the board is fixable. Any snowboard shop worth its weight can do the repair for you. That being said, it will likely cost you.

If this is your rock/early season ride...maybe just throw $5 epoxy in it to stop it from pulling apart more. If it's your primary board, take it to the shop and have it fixed. It's a pretty standard fix, but expect it to take a day or two to be done right.

IN Most cases.....

hate to bring possible bad news..

Usually, when a sidewall delams like that it is the result of the entire fiberglass/ wood bond in the core.

Meaning,, The board is broken inside. You can cosmetically repair it but in most cases the tail section is cracked in the core when this happens, You'll never get the ame performance out of it.

My advice.

put some epoxy in it, Clamp it down for two days. and use it as a second ride.

Go out and get a new or bro downed board.

Rasta Cones for everybody!!

park it

The board could be broken inside, but here's my old methodology. Flex it so it opens up, put some acetone or alcohol in it, just a bit. Mix up some epoxy while someone else is drying the crack with a hairdryer for a 5 or 10 minutes. Just as they're done with the hairdryer(should still be nice n warm in there), shove a ton of the epoxy in it. Put a long piece of duct tape on the base and on topsheet where the delam is, this will keep epoxy off unnecessary areas. Clamps work ok, but I like using two pieces of plywood on either side and park my car on it overnight.
