I'm going to assume that pro riders who don't have a binder sponsor will likely be on the "best" (whatever that means) binders

is that a safe assumption? I mean riders with bindings sponsors have to ride those bindings right? but pros without dedicated sponsors for bindings will likely be on the "best" bindings right?

so obviously then the answer is Burton bindings. I bet there are almost as many non burton pros on Burton binders than there are sponsored ones. Todd Richards, Travis Rice, Wastell, Steve Fischer, Finch and tons of other use cartels or triads.

How many pro riders without binding sponsors use Ride or Union or Flux bindings? anyone know?

Dont Burton hook em up with binders anyway - they all seem to be riding next years binders already, and how do they get their hand on em without some sort of Burton help . . I know that if over here you drop a line to Innsbruck and tell em you ride for so and so but want some cartels you will find a set winging there way to you pronto.

I think Burton binders are kinda the safe bet of the binding world, nothing wrong with em and do what they say on the box,a lot of pros i know use em because they know they will work, and they dont have time to try out a load of others, or the money to buy em either especially when Burton will hook you up for free

Personally i fall more and more in love with my Unions every day, and cant wait to try out the new Contact model they are bringing out next year

union

im probably going to pick up some union bindings for next year, but i was wondering which is better: the forces or the datas?

so far...

i have the rome 390s and i like them, i really want to try the forces though everyone seems to love em

K2 AUTO

K2 AUTO gets my pick.

All the features a good binding should have (lightweight, comfy straps, smooth ratchets, durable) and it lets you strap on your kit 50% faster, so you can beat those park punks to that triple spine line.

WHAT ABOUT FLUX I AM THINKING

WHAT ABOUT FLUX I AM THINKING ABOUT GETTING THE RISING SUN ONE'S OR UNION FORCE. WHICH ONE SHOULD I GO WITH. I AM PUTTING MY FUTURE IN YOUR GUYS HANDS.

warranty for life

Union baseplates are warrantied for life and I used to have a pair of Ride's. They're ok but havent been able to compare to anything I've had since. I'd much prefer my T9's, Rome's or Unions over them. If you want a simple binding go T9 although they're pretty overpriced for how simple they are but I never had any problems with my Hebbel's. But again, my Union's have been my favorites by far and they have a great price point on them.

i rock some old school mission dooms with toe caps, ankle straps from 2 years back and skybaks, these bindings are hard as fuck ive got probably around 500-600 days on em, i dont think those bases will ever break! im not into new bindings the look more fragile every year, all im obviously used to mine i never wanna lose em!

Anyone RIDE??

For the two bindings I've beeen considering getting, RIDE's have still been my top choice yet. Who rides them (ALPHA MVT, etc) and what do you think? How's the flex? Do they last? Are they preferential to certain boot types?

Unions (and Rome) seem to be the 'popular' vote, so how bout some difference of opinions? I've checked out the RIDE binders down at the shops and they seem light, strong and simple, but I haven't ridden any of them yet and can't give an opinion.

As far as Ride Binders are concerned

Yea.... MmmmMMmmMmMMMMmmmm... good enough??

Seriously though. I got the Ride Deltas last year and lemme tell you... lovin' it. The ankle strap is super soft-gel and the "convertable" toe cap/strap (roll with the top down now..) makes it feel like the binder is making sweet love to my feet.

Had a pair of DC Park boots first with them, super niceeeeeee. These binders are easy adjustment. Second pair of boots is 32 TM-TWO and they are still super responsive with the setup.

Only down side, and to be unbiased (yea right) my issue has to be known... Who the hell puts an Allen Bolt, not to mention TWO(2) different sized heads, for the heel cup??? Oh yea... the Ride Deltas... FUCK ME... they loosen up sometimes, which is ok because I am not a small guy so fiddling with stuff is normal. Damnit though, having to keep on top of those is a pain in the ass. Carrying two more tools? Albeit small tools, but still. ARGH.

LOVE THEM THOUGH! ;P

Union

Union all day. Coming from someone who has actually ridden both Union and Rome, unlike our friend Mr. Forester who simply posts in every thread that Rome is the greatest. 390's are nicer than Targa's but the Union Force is hands down one of the most comfortable, solid, cleanest bindings on the market. Union is getting love for a reason.

Damn!

Union is getting some love, but I'm Rome all day. 390's are my favorite even over the bigger-roided out brother the Targa.

union

im surprised someone is actually asking this question, it must be a trick question. i know union is the best out there

yep

Unions. I need a new pair though.

agreed

unions - i need a new pair - my current ones are feeling the effects of constant love

i know what the worst bindings are out there

don't ever buy burton anything. i bought a pair of cartels two seasons ago and since i have had them i have had nothing but trouble with them. i have had my ankle strap fall of during a run, my heel loop is cracking in half (great plastic construction let me tell you), my first month with them i broke a highback, the screws always come loose (on the straps), and just recently my fucking ratchet broke right fucking off shit just snapped. i guess i never really thought about it when i bought them, i had just heard everyone say "ow there pretty nice binders", well there not. thats the last time i take anyone else's word for some shit like that, and thats the last time i buy burton anything. that was a hard 220 dollar mistake to learn. damn.

boo

ive had two pairs of cartels, and im on my second pair of unions, unions are so much nicer!!

sucks for you.

that's funny... my cartels lasted me 80 plus days over three seasons. and yes, i guarantee i ride just as hard as you.

HMM

id rather have unions that last 120+ days in one season that burtons that last 80 over 3 seasons. you might ride hard but you sure as hell don't ride enough. hahaha

haha.

i had my days once! it sucks getting older! i've had my fair share of days riding, but once you have to start paying all your own bills and actually start considering your future, you gotta cut back on the days. one of those seasons was also cut considerably short due to a spraining every muscle in both my hips, worst injury ever!

but yeah, ride as many days as you can, for as long as you can, while age is on your side. and twenty+ days a season is more than a lot of people get.

as far as the bindings go, they still had life in them. i sold them, and upgraded to the new h2o's and love them.

i'm glad

i didn't know this turned into a contest to see who's dick is bigger. i am sure you ride just as hard as me and fuck you probably ride harder, and its great that your bindings worked out well for you but i still feel like the cartel is just an overpriced piece of plastic....thanks for the compassion.

whoaho...

no one turned it into that. just letting you know that i don't baby my bindings. chill out.

sorry brother

i just felt like you were trying to vibe me out. i have no hard feelings or anything, i just am ready to move on to something new....hopefully something that will better suit my tame riding style....just playing.

I second that, my Cartels hav

I second that, my Cartels have treated me great. Considering how light they are, they are bomber. I'd love to see a picture of this supposedly cracking heelcup.

supposedly cracking heelcup!

well i just don't understand why you guys are so offended by my feelings for these bindings. i am though quite sure that this supposed crack does supposedly exist, but you know i could have been drunk when i thought i had seen it. anything is possible when you are a few blatz deep.

::

seems like you're the one getting offended by our opposite point of views on the bindings. sorry you got a pair that didn't hold up for you. did you not try and get them warrantied?

✠™

How i am offended? if you like Cartels then ride em , if you dont , then dont

Wasnt interestead in getting another pair after what i had experianced, plus once i had tried out some Salomon SPX Pros there was no way i ws going back to any Burton binding - imo the baseplate on the cartel is too stiff and doesnt have enough give so they tend to snap a little easier than other bindings, especialy when combined with the old locking flad - i rocked missions for a couple of years and didnt have the same problem

Plus if you look at a set of Unions or Salomons the hardwear and build quality is miles better than anything Burton has - fact is i trust my unions and salomons to do the job, and i just cant say that about a set of Cartels

huh?

wait... what... that reply wasn't towards you.

good thoughts on what the cartels problem might be though.

✠™

I had 2 sets of 05/06 Cartels where the heelcup snapped - also has a heel strap ratchet go after about 20 days

✠™

Union and Salomon -then Rome

Bindo's

UNION.....hands down.
