Rogers Terrain Park Opening December 23rd, 2007

CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY FOR SNOWBOARDERS AND SKIERS AT SUNSHINE VILLAGE

Banff, Alberta – The Canadian Rockies’ most diverse terrain park will be opening the afternoon of December 23rd, 2007.

The Rogers Terrain Park will feature an astounding 10 rails and boxes and a minimum of 3 jumps for its initial opening. Once fully open in early 2008, Rogers Terrain Park will feature 12 acres of phenomenally diverse terrain including the latest jibs, rainbows, A-frames, fun boxes and tabletops. Over $20,000 has been invested in upgrades this year alone, ensuring that the Rogers Terrain Park is always ready to push the envelope.

“We’re thrilled to be able to open the Rogers Terrain Park in time for Christmas,” said Tim Hyndman, Terrain Park Supervisor. “We have a lot of snow to work with, providing us with plenty of options to create a great park for both skiers and boarders.”

With more snow in the forecast, the Rogers Terrain Park crew may begin work on the Snocross course off of Wawa as early as January. The improved Snocross course will feature more technical turns, jumps, and steep and flat sections to challenge skiers and snowboarders to keep their balance and improve their technique.

Sunshine Village will be enjoying a white Christmas with 27 cm of snow falling over the past 3 days. With all the added snow coverage, Sunshine is now boasting a base of 133 cm. Visit skibanff.com for all the latest snow conditions including views from our high resolution web cams.

With over 30 feet of natural snow and 12 lifts, including the most quads in the Canadian Rockies, Sunshine each year attracts more than 500,000 skiers and boarders during Canada's longest season stretching from November to the end of May.
